This gangster's love story has been a treat to watch. We've seen him deny it, fight it until it took over and calmed him. Dutta has forgiven Seema. And yet his redemption isn't complete.
There's one thing i've always wanted for Dutta. Though i love the angry, brooding man hopelessly, there's this other side of him i've always been fond of. We've had glimpses of it, when he first fell in love with Naku. Dutta the believer.
From then to now, Dutta's changed a lot. Then it was because Naku believed in Bappa, and that made him want to believe too. After the face revelation we had him fighting this newfound faith. Remember his drunken convo with Bappa after the marriage? From vehemently denying the existence of a God, Dutta's come a long way. He now believes, not just because of Naku's unswerving faith. He has felt it himself. I loved the scene at the temple where he had that angry conversation with God, asking why she chose to separate them! It's beautiful, the way love has changed this man. I've wanted him to make his peace, from the day i saw him praying in front of a diety in the Ambar sequence. There's this moment i love in the song, where Dutta is standing in front of the diety, eyes closed in prayer. He opens his eyes, he is alone and then he tilts his head slightly, as if asking God 'You've made me come to you finally, haven't you?! Why, why have you been so miffed with me all these years?' That scene gives me a strange sense of peace even now.
Y'day's precap has me excited. I love the way LTL mixes myth and supernatural stuff. I mean, it doesn't seem silly at all. I hope they do justice to it. I mean, i've wanted Dutta to become a believer for so long.
Naku's love is truly peeling off the layers of cynicism and bitterness, and making a new man out of him. Rather, bringing back the boy with a heart full of unsullied faith and unbridled laughter.
