Chapter 26

Aayi sahab Leaving Nakusha in the presence of dutta who looks over her, seeing the way in which nakusha seemed a little nervous her eyes scattered and lost for words. Dutta approaches Nakusha silently still with his hands behind his back clasped in a very stern manner his footsteps are sounded in the room as he approaches her, as ever his every approach leaves Nakusha with an warm feeling of butterflies within. Dutta stops before Nakusha overlooking her silently. Watching over the way she fiddles with white dupatta in her hand and the way in which her eyes fail to look up towards him dutta could sense a certain nervousness from nakusha which amused him a little. Minutes ago she had made a very strong declaration to Madhu that she didn't fear him but now that he stood before her Nakusha things were very different. Dutta looked down at Nakusha with a certain warmth to those eyes of his, something within him said he should ease this awkwardness for nakusha and he does that as ever in his own way. "Abhi abhi Madhu ko kya keh rahin thi?? ke tu mujse nahin darti yehi naa.aab saamne hoon toe nazre bhi nahin uth rahin?"

Nakusha a little shocked by the way Dutta seemed to know of her conversation with Madu feels a rush of hesitancy for she knew that what she had boasted of to Madhu was strictly true and this very moment proved so. Further scattering her eyes..and finding no ease with the moment Nakusha hesitates to look at dutta yet..dutta looking down at nakusha with a certain softness breaks the clasp of his hands behind his back and slowly, silently brings the up..around the top of Nakushas shoulders. Nakusha feeling the warm touch upon her skin reacts to the touch by taking an instant look up at duttas expression. In those eyes she sees a warmth that was as ever comforting for nakusha..his eyes were always filled with a certain love for her..yet surprisingly his lips carried a smile too. Nakusha a little confused as her eyes lock with his for a second yet dutta is quick to make something clear.
"Muskuradiya is ka matlab yeh nahin ke mein teri daavayon ko nazar andaz kardunga". Nakusha looks innocently up at dutta yet dutta was having none of it. watching dutta walk towards the side table opening that drawer where naku had hidden the medication dutta takes out one of the silver satchels. Ripping it open he takes out a small off white table and dilutes It within the glass of water Madhu had left on the table. The fizzing of a soda sound as the medication mixes dutta picks up the glass and stops infront of naksuha he hold out the glass in front of her. his eyes insisted that she take it. trying to avoid the liquid in every way nakushas expression creased with a distaste her eyes almost pleaded like a child who was forced to take there medicine. Knowing full well that duttas instruction would stand firm as ever nakusha takes the glass looking into It for a second she takes a look up at dutta…and is just about to say something yet Dutta doesn't give her a chance. Putting his hands behind his backs duttas tone is firm and the look in his eyes even more adamant. "Jab tak tu yeh pura nahin pee leti nahin mein yaha se kahin jaaunga naa tu."

Naku knowing full well that there was no way to get away with this, hearing that seriousness in his voice Nakusha dared not question. Looking down at the glass in her hands at that white liquid that seemed to bubble with a strong sent..nakusha closed her eyes before putting the glass to her lips and drinking. Dutta noticed the way in which her expression shaped in discomfort and he knew that it was something she disliked yet with silence he waited until Nakusha finished. Seeing her expression ease once as she had finished drinking dutta took away the glass from Naku. Whilst having his back turned to her nakusha putting the glass back on the side table unknown to dutta naku feels the existence of a sharp pain through her burns. Her expression creases in pain ..touching over her right shoulder with the palm of her left hand..nakusha takes a seat on the bed, as dutta happens to turn around he sees that existence of pain on nakushas face and an instant concern takes to his him.
Naku? ..Approaching the bed dutta takes hold of nakusha's hand, looking down at her with immense worry don't sounds his concern more in the form of a scolding.
"Dard ho raha hai naa?, itni vakt se daavaai nahin li jo tune"..duttas eyes still disapproving of the way nakusha hadn't been taking her medication, dutta helps nakusha sit comfortably into the bed. Pulling those cushions behind her back dutta sees nakusha relax in more comfort now and his worry eases.
Sitting down next to Nakusha at the edge of the bed..dutta takes nakushas hand into his..looking into those eyes of hers that continuously seemed fixed on him duttas words much softer this time around. "aaj se mein khud tumari davayio par nazar rakhuga", that meant dutta personally would be present to make sure she takes her medication. Nakusha could feel the care and concern in his words and was deeply touched..As dutta gets up to leave looking over naku his words again stress the importance.."Vakt par daayai legi toe..jaldi theekh hojayeygi." As dutta turns..to leave the room walking a few steps..towards the door
Nakusha looks upon dutta walking away her eyes filled with a devoted sense of love for him hearing her ..dutta stops.. for a second.
"Yehi toe mein nahin chahti sahab.. mein bimar hai toe aap mere karib ho..theekh hojayeygi toe duriya baad jayeygi". Turning around Duttas eyes glow in a sense of affection, with understanding and reassurance no words were needed for the eyes spoke.
Late in the night, as Nakusha turns in bed feeling the right hand side of the bed empty dutta was still working. Nakusha carefully sits up flicking the lamp alight on the side table her eyes tired..yet unable to sleep she takes a glance to the clock on the side table which reads 12am.
As dutta sits behind his desk in the lit balcony from the bedroom. His eyes on paperwork sitting in front of his laptop dutta looks busy with offical matter..yes as nakusha apporches silently…walking around duttas chair nakusha pauses behind him for a second watching over the way he seemed to be tired yet still working..nakusha places her expression on his shoulder..resting on it silently dutta feels nakusha touch and without moving his attention from the paper work he comments. "Tu abhi tak soiee nahin naku?" "Aap bhi toe nahin soyey naa sahab." Dutta finshing rearranging his paper work..and looking to be reading something important exdending his hand..over his shoulder..caresses nakushas cheek softy in aknowlegment before taking it away and continuing work. Soe jaa mein kuch der mein aata hoon.. nakusha knew that once her husband hand set his mind on a task it was near enough impossible to distract him. parting from him..nakusha begins to walk towards the inside of there room when ..she happens to think of something..and turns back. Sahab..baaji? for the past few days baaji had been looking after all bussniess on his own. He would leave early morning and return home late yet being on his own there was always a certain concern to mind for him. dutta looking up from his paper work reaslies that baaji hadnt returned yet. A concern taking to mind dutta is careful not to let the worry take to his expression for the last thing he wanted was for to nakusha to worry. Duttas words reassuring he reassures nakusha there was nothing to worry about. "Tu fikar mat kar woah aajayeyga." Watching nakusha turn into the room..dutta makes sure she is a good distance before he picks up his mobile phone that sits on the desk infront of him amongst the paperwork. concerened by the way baaji had not yet returned nor spoken to him over the phone dutta dials Baajis number and puts the phone to his right ear. All the while wondering what was taking him so long. The phone repeatitly rings thereafter the operator message plays. Dutta cuts the call and re-dails only for the same sequence. Puttinhg down the phone a little irritated by how he was unable to get through to baaji dutta looks over his phone for a second and begns to worry more intensitly..
"Kaha hai ….tu baaji..phone kyun nahin utha raha .." Just as dutta is about to again pick the phone up off the desk.. it rings. The display showing an unknown number. Duttas expression creases in question for a second. Picking up the phone he listens to a very..deep..voice on the other end Just a blunt message warning.-"Baaji rao hamare kabse mein hai..batchana hai usko toe..kali ghati poch jaa…- as the man on the other end hangs up and the phone beeps at being disconnected duttas eyes fill with a harshness.….
Nakusha sitting in bed watches nakusha walk into the room, seeing a sense of firmness in that expression of his nakusha silently watches dutta approach his waldrobe. Opening the doors he takes out his black suit which is the first indication that he was going somewhere. Unable to question him nakusha simply watches as dutta walks into the restroom and a few minuies walks out. Neatly dressed in his black attire..sleeves folded and look perfect. Tired as per time of night duttas eye are of a dull shade of tiredness yet within them was deep concern, a anxiousness as well as lingering anger.Dutta without a glance to naksusha approaches his waldrobe..takes out his revolver and tucks it into his waist. Turing his back.. duttas eyes fall on nakusha who seems to be watching him with a silently concern.
Dutta walks over to nakusha with silence arching over her he places a kiss on her forehead. "Fikar mat kar ..jaaldi aajaunga."Nakusha nods a yes..yet her eyes are filled with worry as she watches dutta leave.……Sometime later…nakusha unable to sleep concerned for both baaji and dutta she walks the floor at the entrance of patil niwas..looking over the doorway every second or two nakusha waits for there return her mind constantly worrying for there safety. Yet nakushas wait she feels is over when Baaji walks through the entrance her eyes ease in a relief.Baaji..tum log aagayay..sahab kaha hai..??Nakusha searching behind baajis back, baaji confused brushes his hand across the back of this hair."Yeh kya keh reh li hai naku, bhau mere saath kaise hoga woah toe ghar pein hai naa." Looking confused baaji sees how nakusha face takes to distress at the mention of dutta not being with him. "Baaji ..sahab tuje dhund ne ko nikle the…abhi thak nahin aayey.."Baaji about to console naku from worrying further when his mobile phone rings. Picking It up baaji listens to that same deep, mysterious tone that warns him of dutta being in danger.Baaji Putting the phone down nakusha notices the way his expression instantly changes and is quick to question. "Kya hua baaji?? kaun tha??
Nakusha adamant to accompany baaji, even after baaji had severely reasoned with her nakusha was convinced that she wanted to be there two. Baaji unhappy with putting nakusha at risk in this way still injured he knew that it was wrong for her to accompany him but she was far to stubborn. Driving in the darkness of the night..having driven some distance baaji concerned for dutta couldn't help but think of all this and get angry. A trap from an enemy who wanted to hurt dutta.yet had done it with such apt but how could dutta have fallen for it.
Baaji driving at some speed sees..duttas jeep parked at some distance in the middle of the road and breaks with sharpness. Stopping at a jolt both nakusha and baaji feel at ease when they see dutta. dutta's car broken down..looking over an open bonnet his eyes trail towards baaji and dutta who stand at a distance.. As nakusha and baaji both walk towards dutta..duttas eyes fill with question. His eyes ease In relief at seeing baaji uharmed yet as his eyes linger of nakusha both baaji and naku could see that he didn't approve of her presence. Just as dutta approches..his footsteps closing the distance between them nakusha steps closer..resting her head against his chest softly..nakusha wraps her hands around his back. Dutta looking down on her places his hand around the back head effectionanitly.. Tuje yaha nahin aana achayay tha naku..Resting comfortably on duttas chest..nakusha refilled to see dutta in no halm listens to his words yet.her eye trail off to a figure in the background.Seeing a tall dark figure in the background. As nakusha looked deeper she could make out Someone aiming a gun at dutta nakusha lifting her expression tries to prompt dutta to move yet … baaji had already preempted the situation he is quick to come in harms way..taking a gun shot to his arm. Nakusha seeing baaji hurt weak per existing injury overwhelmed faints in duttas arms..baaji..heavy wounded by the gun shot slanders on the floor…leaving dutta.. with the ramose of to loved ones..nakusha who was unconscious in his arms and baaji injured on the ground before him.
……In the corridors of very conventional hospital Dutta walks up and down the blue corridors of the narrow seated isle. Out of pure distress duttas footsteps trailed back and forth the corridor whilst Aayi sahab and seated on one of the chairs out side the operation theater silently prays with the hope of seeing both nakusha and baaji through this incident. It had been an hour since both had been admitted into the same theater there beds side by side doctors seeing to them both for some time now…dutta burdened with worry ..stops walking the corridor for a second..a sense of sadness to his eyes he takes and visible worry not leaving his expression he seat next to aayi sahab.
Raising his expression to rest on the back of the seat..dutta closes his eyes for a second and breathes deeply. Aayi sahab witnessing dutta' s anxiousness touches upon his right should. As dutta opens his eyes..lower his expression ..and turning it to his right to face aayisahab…aayi sahab sees ..a certain fear in those eyes of dutta which was harldy ever visible. Yet her reassurance and comforting nodd provides a little comfort for dutta. before any words could be shared..a female doctor dressed in a grey saari..over it a white doctors coat come outs of the room both baaji and nakusha are admitted.
Dutta quick to reacts leaves his seat at once and approaches the doctor with haste..Doctor!! Waohh.. the doctor not allowing dutta to distress further explains all."Aap fikar naa kare aapke dost aur aapki patni dono theekh hai.Bas kuch vakt ke baad hosh aajayeyga dono ko…"Having heard that both were in no life threath..both aayi sahab and duttas expression his a relief. Standing before the door of that operation theather..dutta looks through the circular clear glass window…still with a sense of regret for being the season that his loved ones were this way dutta onlooks through the window for a second before entering the room. Having stepped into the room..on looking both nakusha who lay on a bed on the left..and baaji who lay on a bed a little distance away on the right . Dutta notices the way…both unconscious seem..rather at peace, reassured now that they would both were safe. Dutta walks a little further into the room ..approching nakusha bedside..he ovelooks her for a second. As much love as ever in those eyes of his he softly brushes his hands over nakusha left cheek. His eyes trailing down at her figure laid there…duttas eyes fall on nakushas wrist. Remembering the moment in which nakusha had taken that red dhaga from around her wrist and tied it to baaji..dutta thinks over the significance it. The moment where nakusha had tied one on his wrist flashes before dutta. "aap ki suraksha karega yeh dhaga.." is what she had said. Bringing his right arm up dutta looks at his wrist that red thread still tied to his wrist…dutta unties it with his left hand..loosing it from around his wrist he slowly ties it to nakusha's wrist. His eyes moving from Nakusha to baaji who was at some distance..dutta walks around nakusha bed..silence in the room the sound of only duttas footsteps aas he walks towards baajis bedside. Overlooking baaji..his right arm bandaged in a white material where he had been shot dutta touches he hand over baajis forehead for a second. His eyes saddened to see him in such a state..dutta looking over them both..once more leaves the room.
…Sometime later as both nakusha and baaji regain consciousness, Baaji even though hurt still his usual self..his right arm in a sling he talks to naksha who is a little silent due to pain..yet smiles at baajis comments …Aayi sahab enter and madu enter to the room. Both happy to see them good and well there expressions with smiles..aayi sahab takes a seat at at end of nakushas bed whilst madhu approches baaji. -Sahin mein…tum dono ko theekh dekar…man ko shanti mili hai. nakushas eyes searching for dutta..not seeing him…her tone very soft silent she asks . ..aayisahib..sahab kaha hai? aayi sahab takes naku's hand into hers and explains. "woah kuch der pehle ghar chala gayay..tum dono ko aise nahin dekh paa raha tha woah. Satch naku..meine dutta ko kayee baar pareshaan hote hue dekha hai magar aaj jo uski ankhon mein dekha woah..kayi syada ghehra tha. par ab tum dono theekh ho toe sab theekh hai." Nakusha and Baajis eyes lock for a second, both concerned about duttas reaction look at each other with an understanding for both knew of dutta nature well. The fact that he wasn't here meant this incident had touched him deeply. Just had conversation had begun in the room the doctor enters the room. All eyes upon her as she approaches nakushas bedside with a certain report.
"Mrs patil..hamne aapki kuch tests li thi unke results aachuke hai. Kya aap yey private mein suna chahegi ya.." The doctors asks nakusha if she would like to be told the outcome of her results in privacy yet nakusha objects. "Nahin doctor..yeh sab mera parivar hai, aap kahiyey". The presence of baaji aayi sahab and madhu..didnt bother nakusha she would have rather they be with her then she be alone. All eyes on the doctor as she reads from a clip board "Atchi kabar yeh hai ke ..aap bikul theekh hai bas aapko apke zakhmo ka khyal rakhna hoga aaram karna hoga. Ek aur kushbhabri yeh bhi hai ke aap maa bane vali ho."
Hearing the doctor say Naksuha was pregnant all faces in in the room light up in joy nakusha surprised a litte overwhelmed her eyes film in tears of joy whist both baaji and madhu celebrate in a more comic way aayi sahab puts her hands together thanking bapa..with immense joy at the news.
The smile on nakushas face expressive…a little overwhelmed with the news nakushas eyes seem to beam with a certain happiness. As madhu goes on to hug nakusha..nakusha..a little embarrassed yet overjoyed with news…wants to say something to the family.."Aayi sahab…waoh..mein.." Aayi sahab still smiling looks towards nakushas as she goes on…letting her speak. Unable to lift her expression as she speaks nakusha tells aayi sahab that she wanted to be the first one to tell dutta. "Mein phele sahab ko batana chahti hai..."aayi sahab along with the rest of the family overjoyed promise that say wouldn't say a word to dutta.
Nakusha expression glowing with a sense of happiness for today she had fulfilled that wish of duttas nakusha sees that red dhaga tied to her wrist knowing that the one who tied it around her wrist would be dutta nakusha smiles to herself in content…………
Later into the night or even a dark morning of the next day Nakusha and Baaji are allowed leave from the hospital walking into Patil Niwas the joy of such good news leaves a smile on both of there expressions yet as Nakusha still a little weak slowly walks alongside Baaji who has his right arm in a sling looking some distance into the house they see Dutta sat in front of the greenery with his back turned towards them. Sitting in silence on the wooden decking dutta seems to be on looking the garden in silence. Both Nakusha and baaji look at each other for a second in concern
