Hey everyone!
Firstly, I want to apologize for the delay in this reply - work and life in general has been crazy so it took me a little while to organize this. Nonetheless, lets get on with the purpose of this post without delay.. 😆
Regarding the issue about Madhu's nickname, I'd like to clarify that contrary to what has been suggested in this thread, the word "Makhi" itself is not considered bashing. Before we all pull out our brickbats, hear me out. We've given nicknames to almost every character in LTL at one point or another - Ravi was "mavali", Supriya was "Dragon Lady", Aayi Sahib and Babi are commented on numerous times and even Dutta is called "gadha" ever so often. So put in with these precidents, the word itself is not "bashing" at all. It is just a nickname - a pure freedom of expression... What would constitute as "bashing" or otherwise would be the context it was used in. If the author of a post uses the nickname in an offensive context - i.e. the content of the post is flaggrantly insulting the character/actor in a harsher than necessary manner - then the post would be bashing and therefore the use of the nickname in that post would constitute bashing too. But the use of this nickname in general discussion between members cannot be labelled as "bashing" - especially since other nicknames have been allowed in the forum, as they should be! It's free speech guys - and I understand that sometimes we don't like what's being said about a character we like (and I like Kala so I know! 😆) but that does not allow us to limit freedom of speech. Tolerance guys! Tolerance is key! 😳😆
As mentioned in the main announcement, please refrain from comparision topics between Madhu and Roops or either of the jodi. But this does not mean that you cannot criticize the characters or the jodis - you can! However, please refrain from unnecessary comparision. For some reason, we're all extremely sensitive to the Madhu-Roops discussion (which quite honestly has me at a loss for words because this was never the case with the LTL forum - we were always very accepting of EVERY point-of-view but something's changed drastically in the past 2 months). And this is why, maybe it will be useful to step back from the Madhu-Roops debate for a while and focus on other areas of the show that you like. This is just a suggestion - one I hope is taken into consideration by members. You can still comment on your opinion regarding either of the characters but lets try to refrain from drawing comparisions between the two. And personally, I would love to see the more accepting atmosphere of the forum prevail again. We've always had drastically different points-of-view in this forum and they had always been accepted and appreciated, regardless of how polar they were to our own opinions. Yet recently, the mere mention of a perspective different than our own seems to warrant the loss of all patience and acceptance. That to me is very disheartening - very, very disheartening. We might not have agreed with what was being said about a character or even liked it, but the beauty of this forum laid in the fact that we still allowed that opinion to be expressed openly and without prejudice in the past. And recently, I don't see that happening - I am not sure why (maybe it's End-of-year stress or frustration of the show's track) but whatever be the reason, the forum's environment has seriously deteriorated in recent times.
Another thing to look out for, as mentioned several times before, if you ever come across a situation or a comment of questionable nature i.e. you're not sure whether or not the comment is intended to be offensive or if it's against forum rules and if so, how to deal with it - in those situations, please report it to the DT and let us take care of it. Sometimes we're too close to the proverbial book and the words start to blurr and thing start seeming different then they are or were intended to be. And in those situations, passing your own judgement and taking matters into your own hands can cause a grave misunderstanding. The DT is here to avoid such situations precisely. If you feel something isn't right about a post or a comment PLEASE let us know and we will look into it. But please refrain from confronting the situations on your own or passing your own judgement in the matter.
And this allows me to address another situation - recently it has come to our attentions that members have been asking other members to intervene in tense situations to resolve issues. Or they've just simply bottled-up the response until they lashed out in frustration at a later time. And because of this, we would honestly and sincerely like to ask just one simple questions: As DT members for this forum, have we (Shabz, Cindy and myself) not been competent in our work? Is there anything that we did that resulted in members feeling that they could not approach us? Have we been unavailable to assist members when asked? 😳 Because it troubles us deeply to see that issues that could have been resolved instantly had they been brought to our attention, have been ignored and therefore prolonged to a point that has resulted in the tense forum environment we currently experience. If we find out about something 2-3 weeks after it occurred, it takes away from our ability to resolve the situation or correct it in any way. And it leaves disgruntled members in its wake. So really, without any sarcasm whatsoever, if we haven't been competent in our work please let us know!

Let us know and we will fix it - we will get better and make ammends. But it is extremely unfair to other members when you ask them to intervene in situations - that's what the DT's here for... To help members and to produce a better forum environment. But unfortunately, for whatever reason, members have refrained from bringing any issues that disturbed them to our attention. And when we find out about it weeks later, it limits our ability to respond to it. *sigh* I guess, what I'm trying to say is - if there is something wrong, tell us right away.. And we
will help resolve it. But you'll have to let us know first. 😊
And lastly, the DT is completely open to the idea of proofreading any questionable scenes before they are posted - just to verify if they're appropriate for IF content. As long as the writers give us 2-3 days (maximum) to look through the update, we'd be more than happy to help with the content of FFs. And if anything needs editing, we'd be willing to work with the writers to figure out an acceptable update. So that's something to keep in mind if you're FF writers.. 😆
I think I have covered all the questions/concerns in this post - in case I've forgotten something, let me know and I'll look into it.. 😳
P.S. So a totally unofficial reply, but the TINs might be making a comeback in coming weeks. Might. 😆
