@mussy-jamshed
Nice Mussy...Dutta has no choice now that his lady-love has taken the bullet now.
However much he is angry, he does not have a choice now. He has to pick her up, he has to tend to the injury and love will follow grudgingly.
Who knows we might hear him singing soon:
"Choo kar mere man ko, kiya tune kya ishaara
Badla yeh mausam lage pyara jag sara........."
Kala, Kala, Kala.😡......you might as well join the waltz 😆and start thinking about ways to go on enjoying the perks of the luxurious life that you have courtesy Dutta!!!!!

Thank you. I wrote in an eartler post about the importance for all to relate to each other at the most basic and primitive level in order to realise the importance of love and companionship in our lives.
We may shy at the prospect of venturing on the sensitive subject of "lust" for several reasons and mainly our tendency to stay behind a shield of prudism (I dont find anything wrong with that) but as human beings, we have to acknowlege that men and women have basic needs that need to be satisfied. AS summarised it beautifully in LTL by exhorting in her way "her twisted logic" that a woman's love will calm a violent and restless Dutta. We all agree and want to see Nakusha succeeding in her endeavour. What could be in contention and rightly so, may be the circumstances in which this should happen and we will see how CV's bring that about.
It is just a matter of time as the story has to move to the next level.😊

Hi Kavita,
I missed yur erlier post...Interesting analysis..The point I made in my post abt emotional and mental closeness was purely from Dutta's point of view and the way I feel they have developed his character..Yes, I don't deny that physical need is very basic and there is nothing taboo abt accepting it...Its just that Datta is deeply emotional.. This is evident from his reactions to betrayals, right from Seema's time..Not every man who is betrayed turns into a don.. And so, he cannot break the physical barrier unless he has broken the emotional one with his woman..(no matter how basic the need) He is extremely guarded and wary of letting himself down with other women or even strangers,,,that could have multiple reasons, right from childhood to adulthood.....It may be atypical but that's how they have shown his character (or rather that's how i have understood it).......So for me even the casual touch he shared with Naku during their friendship days spoke volumes abt the level of comfort he shared with her.....I don't remember him sharing even a casual handshake with Supriya though he was going to get practically married to her....So for Dutta it is gonna be mind to body and never vice-versa..That's how he is, for better or worse...And i think yu can never change a person's basic nature..
I hope I am making sense here Kavita..And I hope I have understood the gist of yur post as well..Since u touched upon the "touch" aspect of DN relationship, I gave my specific thoughts 😛..Yes what AS said makes sense, but for that Dutta has to take a step too..give in..But Datta being Datta, I feel DN can evolve to the next level only if they sort out their trust issues..Don't see it working otherwise...

Hi Liz,

Thank you for your patient and detailed reply to my post. Circumstances permitting, we should probably have sat down and written that together. Our passion for LTL or, rather Dutta the character, has been inspirational and for the first time, I have tempted myself to move from the factual to delve into the multi-dimensional use of senses and its importance in real life and on celluloid. The small/big screen should be the mirror that showcases all facets of human behaviour and nature. LTL despite being a fantasist's delight has been able to showcase complexities that will remain unchartered territory on Indian TV for a long time if I am to judge by the content of so many shows where the pseudo-need to show social issues leads to lots of confusion and distortion of real human behaviour.

I am thankful that LTL steered clear of this stifling tendency to be a mirror of perceived "social and acceptable norms and patterns" in broader terms and chose to showcase love and its perception in a simple, touching and unique way. The creative team is normally at the receiving end of lots of flak and for the first time ever, I am tempted to give the Devil their due. 👏👏👏Thank you. This recognition is also extended to MR/MV ⭐️⭐️👏👏in the way they embraced the characters of Dutta and Nakusha and made it so palpable and real for us. They have, undoubtedely, touched our hopelessly romantic chords but more importantly enabled lots of people (at least from what I can gather) to put in perspective their thoughts for love as an essential emotion for the positive development of the human being at a basic and psychological level.

I was wary to start this thread on touch as it can easily lead on slippery grounds as we are not relational experts. But Dutta and his portrayal of personal inadequacies and inability to relate in a coherent manner to his emotions and anger (sometimes suppressed, sometimes downright destructive) could be attributed to the level of intrigue around him but in a more real sense to the fact that he has been deprived of love, of the human touch. Touch deprived people have more difficulty discriminating between pleasure and pain. They are more likely to engage in self-destructive conduct and have more serious problems with behaviours that are innately pleasurable, such as affectionate touch, hence the hostile world they end up inhabiting. This is one reason LTL will remain close to our heart. 😊

Thank YOU, Kavita! For starting this thread! You've done the analysis so well that I'm short of words now. But let me still try. 😃

You know, you've summed up what LTL is in this single sentence.
And LTL has not just redefined love for us. For people like me, LTL has done far more than that. LTL, like I've said countless times, gives me hope. It is, basically, a fairy tale. But the treatment and the psychological and emotional elements in this story, make it far far superior to most shows. The characters in LTL have grown a lot, from its inception. They have changed, matured, have had their perceptions altered. And this is where most other shows fail terribly. They let the characters stagnate, they remain the same as they were when they started out. And if they do change, it is sudden, or unbelievable. Whereas LTL, inspite of having a protagonist who laughably, had to hide her face under a layer of soot(the most unrealistic theme of all), had its characters grow with each trial. Nakusha has grown, from a girl who was scared of her own beauty/fate, to a wife who will rise to every occasion to see her husband safe. She stands up to every one who questions her faith! Hopefully, she'll stand up to Dutta too....soon!
Dutta has grown from the happy-go-lucky boy to the jaded don who found solace in violence and anger. And then to the man who believed in second chances, love, and redemption. He's had a temporary lapse now, but Naku's love is such that it will bring him back from the darkest of hells. This, is the beauty of the show. This and its unpredictability. Any other show, we would have had the hero give in very easily. Here, Dutta's taking his time to fall back in love, like someone would do in real life. LTL, with all these elements gives me hope. Makes me believe in the goodness of people. Makes me believe in love, and its power to alter perceptions and life.

Shan,
Wanted to get back to you earlier but please be assured that you do echo my wishes as well when it comes to Dutta accepting Nakusha in the fullest sense in the right circumstances. Post FR, this is even more important as he has to manoeuvre a difficult journey readjusting perceptions of an image of Nakusha that he had in his mind and fallen in love with. I also empathise with the trust issues that Dutta is battling with right now as it is logical for anyone to explode should you find that the person who is going to be your partner for life has hidden such an important aspect /element of their personal recognitions of the self (Nakusha's real face in this instance) from each other. And I am with you on "So for Dutta it is gonna be mind to body and never vice-versa..That's how he is, for better or worse...And i think yu can never change a person's basic nature.."

Thank you Liz,
It means a lot to me and I wish that there would be many more shows like LTL where the audience would be shown the natural evolution that the human being has to go through in life as opposed to these outlandish tales/scenarios where they have to rely on horrible gimmicks such as leaps of twenty years............... to justify being on air,
TV has an important role to play in society but not at the cost of demeaning the audience expectations of quality but rather to provide pure entertainment and fulfill our fantasies. So Long Live LTL, our very own fairy tale...😊

Wow. The discussion in this thread has left me speechless!
Kavita, thank you so much for starting this thread...After reading the dialogue between you and Liz, as well as the other comments here, I'm sitting here thinking, "Wow! I need to desperately catch up on the LTL episodes that I haven't seen, because I don't want to miss one bit of this story! I want to see every step of our protagonists' evolution from the day they met until now, because I know I will cherish every moment of it."
I hope to eventually get to the stage where I can actually contribute to such insightful discussions because I was genuinely awed by your analysis. I love analyzing the importance of small, subtle gestures like touch and facial expressions, because I feel that so much is conveyed through nonverbal cues. And that is especially evident in LTL. The team of LTL has created a story where the main protagonists develop and mature gradually, and that is reflected in their mannerisms. Mishal and Mahi have done a beautiful job with their characters so far, and I have full faith in their acting prowess and their understanding of Dutta's and Nakusha's personalities and mannerisms to expect that they will continue to breathe life into this soulful story, no matter what twists and turns may be in store.
Your analysis in your first post delves so deeply into some the finer aspects of Dutta-Naku's relationship that I sincerely hope you keep writing so that I can appreciate this show even more than I already do!

You bet, Borna! Girl, if you haven't watched the episodes from Dutta's entry(Jan27) to April, you've missed a lot!! Agree, the story's getting deeper by the day, but the old episodes will tell you how they came to be. Their friendship days were simply amazing. Sweet and unhurried. And the way Naku silently loved Dutta and wished him happiness while stealing away all his sorrows, that is something you HAVE to watch. Sigh, I wanna watch all the old episodes again now! 😳

Dear Borna,
Thank you.
I am relieved when I see people responding to my posts as I do need that gentle nudge to carry on and also assure myself that I am making sense. The danger with some of my posts, as you said rightly, deal so closely with the "importance of small, subtle gestures like touch and facial expressions, -----conveyed through nonverbal cues" in real life and subsequently its interpretation on celluloid that I am somtimes worried that I might tread on sensitive grounds. LTL has been a boon to me as it has forced me to go back to my studies of human nature and behavioural modes and I am relishing that phase. 😊 Please do read the others as well. 😊😊

I'm working on watching the old episodes...Slowly but surely, I'll catch up! 😃 I've seen all the Dutta-Naku scenes that are on youtube, so I'm not completely lost - but I've turned into such an LTL fanatic that I can't even think of neglecting all those months! What to do...Nakusha pulled me into her world from Day 1, and I've been living the tale...Slowly, yes...But this way I have more to look forward to! Embarrassed
