Colors with its latest promo of Nakusha in Dutta's arm has sent everybody in a frenzy on the Forum with everyone wavering between joy and trepidation as to the much awaited events that will unfold in LTL this week. It is dangerous to speculate when it comes to LTL as despite the many bloopers, the CVs' have somehow managed to keep most of us glued to the show. Are they going to show Nakusha taking the bull (Kala) by the horns or will they show her evolving as the new Chanakya in the life of a lost, hurt and confused Dutta? Whilst "Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed", (read enticement/influence, bribery, punishment or sowing dissension) are qualities that we find difficult to attribute to the gentle character of Dutta's wife, we have no choice but to accept that she has got no options, if she has to bring her husband back from the brink because, Dutta was and is now, her life and everything that touches it.
On Friday, our tigress made a great show of her resolve to fight Kala, the master strategist of Patil Niwas by accepting the latter's open challenge. Whilst it was refreshing to see her "Never Say Die" attitude, I, like so many others, have been wondering about the ways and means she has at her disposal to counteract the devious, powerful, intelligent and supremely confident Kala. Had she been given, even a semblance of support (laughable and impossible for an indeterminate time) by Dutta, she would have, somehow, been, equipped to a certain degree for the long and unpredictable battle ahead.
Unfortunately, she does not have this privilege yet. Nor would it be in her interest to compromise Baaji, the loyal friend by revealing the extent of Kala's treachery to the poor "Devar/Dost" as she is now aware that the latter is already on slippery grounds in the PN household. She does not know whether she should rely on AS (if one could ever gauge this lady of the Patil Manor, one would jump with joy and so would Nakusha). Leela and Roops have proved to be Kala's partners in crime (she does not know but suspects it now) and nor can she rely on Kishore as the latter has no influence over any aspect of Kala's action. But more importantly, though many may not agree her, she does not have Babi (that we all take joy in deriding on this forum), the mother/friend who despite all her flaws did her utmost to further her daughter's interest.
Indeed, Nakusha in the LTL fairy land (read CVs) must have already etched out the foundation of this strategy which will eventually pave the way for Dutta's redemption. LTL will probably run into the dreaded territory of the saas/bahu/nanad saga where the female protagonist is shown after umpteenth attempts (some frivolous) to succeed where even angels would not stand a chance by fighting poison with poison. And Nakusha cannot eschew this route.
A humble request to CV's though and I am probably echoing the wishes of many LTL fans by hoping that Nakusha is not suddenly shown as the trailblazer (almost adopting "a la drama queen" gestures as gulping down the revolting ashshake) on Friday. And there are many valid reasons for that:
She can't be shown as aspiring to match Kala's evil yet beguiling wit. She may be street-smart and endowed with lots of practical philosophical wisdom but not intelligent enough to see through the smokescreen that life is in Patil Niwas.
She does not have the fortune (in spite of being the "dharampatni" of the uber-rich Don) and hence cannot buy any form of influence to advance her cause.
She does not know where to start with the punishment as she is, herself, the defenceless victim of her husband's lack of solicitude, misunderstanding, physical and mental torture (not that we, entirely, blame Dutta as Nakusha did fail him miserably in the ultimate test of love and trust). Moreover her simplistic logic when it comes to compassion and tolerance will always prove a hindrance in a battle "sans merci" (pitiless) against evil at its best in the form of Kala
And, finally, Nakusha does not know (at least was never shown to possess the characteristics) how to sow dissension amongst her surroundings to be able to eventually rule. She is like her poor husband, too virtuous, too nice and naive for her own good.
Kala, unfortunately to our utter disgust, possesses every single advantage listed above and will fight tooth and nail as besides winning a battle of wits, she is a self-centred, obsessed woman who will not rest until she has destroyed everything that could give Dutta the remotest chance at a semblance of happiness.
Thankfully, LTL remains confined to celluloid and poetic and natural justice will have to be restored. Nakusha has to win this battle not only to win back our "Gadha's" trust but also save him and re-establish him as the real king of her heart and that of Patil Niwas in the process. We are all braced for yet another exciting period full of histrionic proportions from Mishal/Maahi/Vinay and Aaksha and possibly some others who at this point seem quite insignificant.
