Flawed diamonds👏 wow
I got into retrospective mode after reading your beautiful post
I too love flawed characters...its just essence of being human. Imperfection has a beauty in itself. There is a scope of improvement ,of transformation ,of groW*H.Perfection is boring.I read a quote somewhere
"The fact of storytelling hints at a fundamental human unease, hints at human imperfection. Where there is perfection there is no story to tell. "
Their flaws make this story so beautiful.I was thinking if Dutta did not have a melancholic painful past, would he be the same person he is.He would be regular normal guy, living life at more superficial level.
Or what if Nakku did not have that ugly identity, would she be what she is now?I think their pain has given that intensity ,that passion to their love story. If Dutta's life wasn't soooo dark, would he have appreciated that ray of light in form of Nakku to that extent.
As they say
" There is a crack, a crack in everything .That's how the light gets in."
The more a person has gone through pain, more he withdraws from the world and its superficial conduct...deeper he goes .Melancholy gives soul an opportunity to carve out a space where wisdom can take up residence.I think I would not have enjoyed the journey of their finding each other if they were just happy go lucky regular folks.
Few lines came in my head while i was reading your post...hope they make some sense here. these lines are from novel THE THORNBIRDS...
"There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest,it searches for a thorn tree and does not rest until it has found one. Then ,singing among the savage branches,it impales itself upon the longest sharpest spine. And ,dying it rises above itsown agony to out carol the lark and the nightingale.
One superlative song ,existence the price.
BUT THE WHOLE WORLD STILLS TO LISTEN,AND GOD IN HIS HEAVEN SMILES..FOR THE BEST IS ONLY BOUGHT AT THE COST OF GREAT PAIN...or so says the legend...."
I think more trials that put their love to test, deeper and more beautiful it will grow.Waiting for their journey to get across next and biggest and hopefully final trial.Hope am making some sense here

@ Liz :But ultimately, it's when I got hurt and delved deep into darkness that I really learnt how beautiful life really is. To find yourself, you've got to lose yourself first. QUOTE
I totally understand what u mean here ,have been through such dark phase myself which totally changed my way of thinking. That is why I can relate to Dutta's complexity.I can understand him. These lines are from novel The Thornbirds by author Colleen Mc Cullough.Very very true.
LTL is a fairytale for me.. It takes me away into a world of my own ,far away from reality for sometime
