DD, lovely post! 👏
But I do not completely agree with you.
Naku's been part of Dutta's life ever since she entered PN. She pushed him out of his darkness, kept pestering him unceasingly so that he'd see the light. This is where I agree with you. Dutta's always loved Naku, unknowingly. He's been protective of her from the very beginning, saving her from More, the goons, defending her in front of his sisters, opening up to her...and most of all acknowledging the fact that he likes talking to her, listening to her bak bak. I suppose he always thought of her as a little girl. I remember Adi posting this quote in one of the threads: I love you for what I am when I am with you. It's one of my favorite quotes. And in Dutta's case, this is the truth. Everytime he's been with Naku, he's learnt to love himself a little more. Which is why her conversations always leave him happy, and at peace. And the idiot never realized that this was indeed true love. For when a person makes you want to be a better person, that is someone worth fighting for. And for our Dutta, this realization is gonna come a little late.
I agree with you, Naku's touched his soul in a way neither Supriya nor Seema could. While they grazed the surface and left him with wounds that pushed him into that pool of darkness, Naku came as a ray of light. He fell in love with her not because she was ugly or dark, but because she believed in the person hidden in him. She was able to see kindness where others saw brutality. THat way, he's always loved Naku. And maybe everything bad that happened to him was so that he find this beautiful person with an even more beautiful heart. And learn to appreciate life. For that's what Naku's been teaching him slowly. I agree with you when you say that his hatred stemmed from the fact that deep in his heart he cared for her. And hence the betrayal hurt. Most of his dialogues during the forced shaadi time are so powerful It;s like he's branded her with his name. And it almost seemed like all that hatred was because he believed she was his, maybe as a friend. And finally when he realized that she was innocent....there's one scene which stands out in my mind! Boy, an absolute brilliant dialogue. This dialogue alone convinced me that Dutta loves Naku but hasn't realized it yet: Kamina waqt tha, ya tu andha tha....na samjha ye dil...Bahut huroor tha na, logon ki pehchan thi na tumhe...saara huroor tod gayi woh!!!! I LOVE this monologue. Somewhere in these lines, Dutta told us that she's defeated him.
His time in the jungle with her just reinforced the feelings. Jagtap brought them to the surface by asking Dutta to look into himself. And that's when Dutta realized that Naku was in him all along. While he'd been running away from everything, his peace and love had always been in him.
There is something that I see
In the way you look at me
There's a smile, there's a truth in your eyes
But an unexpected way
On this unexpected day
Could it mean this is where I belong
It is you I have loved all along
It's no more mystery
It is finally clear to me
You're the home my heart searched for so long
And it is you I have loved all along
There were times I ran to hide
Afraid to show the other side
Alone in the night without you
But now I know just who you are
And I know you hold my heart
Finally this is where I belong
It is you I have loved all along
It's no more mystery
It is finally clear to me
You're the home my heart searched for so long
And it is you I have loved all along
Over and over
I'm filled with emotion
Your love, it rushes through my veins
And I am filled
With the sweetest devotion
As I, I look into your perfect face
It's no more mystery
It is finally clear to me
You're the home my heart searched for so long
And it is you I have loved
It is you I have loved
It is you I have loved all along
And so, once he' realized that Naku was his future, and his destiny there was no turning back for him. This is where I have to disagree, for I believe he loves, has always loved her for being "the home his heart searched for so long". Not because she was dark or ugly.
Now, he still needs to shed his prejudices. Her being beautiful is gonna shatter all his misconceptions about beauty and betrayal.Yes, he's gonna call her a betrayer too, at first, but then he HAS to look beyond all that and see what is clear! That this is one person whose beauty shines in her eyes even when she's hidden under a layer of soot. He has to realize that she is true. His truth.
SORRY, for the LONG post.😳
