First time I've seen this ad and it was funny. Must say Indian Ads are very creative and I liked the lil explanation at the beginning as i learnt something new. Yet, i can see that it can be deemed offensive too.

I don't think it is offensive to widowed women. It is actually a satire; they are taking a dig at the social customs.
How the community swoops down (they are waiting for the person to die, to being to howl and cry) to rob the woman of her right to grieve in her own way, how they reduce a life long, permanent relationship to mere symbols: breaking the bangles and rubbing off the sindur, engaging Rudalis (the professional mourners) to cry for the dead.
Why remove the symbols of your relationship when the person is gone? It should be a personal decision. No one has the right to take it away from a woman.
Here we see it happening immediately after death. In many hindu communities, when the husband dies, they take the widow to the ghat, deck her up like a bride and the ritually remove everything. Is there anything more cruel than this?
You are reduced to a nothing, if your husband dies before you, you are entitled to nothing, not even a decent life. All this still exists in rural India.
The ad is actually pro-widowed women and anti social customs.
Just think about this. You won't be offended. They are laughing at cruel customs.

I agree with MOFM....the ad makes fun of the horrible customs connected to widowhood.

I watched this 'award-winning' ad first over two years ago. And someone forwarded it again. And I recognised Kishore :-)
My doubts were removed when he shook his head smiling :-)
He still does it the same way on LTL.
