Both are selfish, egositical, liars and dishonest = No win situation!!

Actually...Naku is all about faith...she has undying belief in bappa and is good at heart...she knows if she has not done anything wrong...nothing wrong will happen to her...hence she does not resort to any wrong methods..she doesnt do any vrats but yet she has God's love because she is honest and truthful
Subu is scared...fear is foremost in her life...she does vrats because she is scared that her deeds may haunt her and she may have to pay for them...So all the vrats are not because of the faith but because of that fear of losing anna because she seperated him and his first wife....So God doesnt help fear...he helps faith!!! :)
