Rohit Roy will turn producer with White Feather Films' Pankh. His brother Ronit will be part of the star cast which includes Bipasha Basu, Lalitte Dubey, Mahesh Manjerakar, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Kiran Karmarkar. The film will be releasing on May 2. We spoke to both the brothers about the film.
Rohit Roy
"The film is based on a true life story. In fact the child actor whom the film has been based on has been a part of several movies in Bollywood. It is about how a girl child actually starts believing that she is a boy after she plays several roles on-screen as a boy. The film is based on child actor Ehsaas Channa, who is a girl but has played a boy in films like Karan Johar's 'Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna' and Ramgopal Varma's 'Vaastu Shastra'. The child's mother had often made her play the role of a boy in order to get work in Bollywood. However, later on Ehsaas's father filed a legal law suit against the mother for making her play a boy. Bipasha was very eager to do this film because the concept was real and she is a very old friend of mine so now I'm just waiting for the film to release."
Ronit Roy
"The movie deals with a contemporary subject as it based on a real life story. I'm playing the role of a director and Mahesh Manjrekar is writer of that film. It was great to work with such a wonderful person like Mahesh. I also have two scenes with Bipasha and she is wonderful person."
