After much speculation, Smriti Irani's first solo home production Virrudh is going off air in January 2008. As the show draws to a close, we ask some of the stars for their reactions and memories.
Smriti Irani (Vasudha)
"Every show must end. I don't believe in 20-year leaps and stretching the track too much as sometimes our audience gets bored. So keeping in mind to all my fans, I decided to end of the story but in the right manner. I'm very happy that in such a short span Virrudh has got 4 to 5 awards."
Anchint Kaur (Vedika)
"I have enjoyed every moment of this serial. I liked the story line which was a great relief for me as I was bored of those typical saas-bahu melodramas. There is no point stretching drama too long. My role of Vedika has got a lot of appreciation and I even won the Best Supporting Role at the Indian Television Academy Awards so I'm very satisfied."
Sanjit Bedi(Siddarth)
"For almost 2 years that I have been in contact with Smriti Irani. It was great fun working with such a talented lady. I believe there should be a logical end to every serial that's why it is going off air. My best scenes in Virrudh were the ones involving Vedika and Vasudha. It was fun and I hope in future too Smriti will do well."
Sushant Singh (Sushant)
"We were aware that Virrudh is ending but I'm very glad that the show will go off the air on a logical note. It's commendable the way Smriti has handled the serial. Before the audience get exhausted with the same repetitive stuff, it's better to finish the story. My best scene was with Vikram Gokhale were I had a fight with him, while the other was when Sushant broke up with Vasudha. It was great working with such talented people."
Parivaa (Sandhya)
"I was aware of the fact that the show will go off air some two months back as Smriti was waiting for some logical conclusion. I guess she must have got how to end the story. It was fun working with her as I got to learn a lot of things."
