'Kyunki...' star Pulkit Samrat talks about the show, his penchant for magic and his ideal mate
Prashant Golecha
How would you describe yourself?
I am a hardworking man who doesn't bow down before situations. I am also moody and short tempered at times.
You were to debut with Mannish Goswami's 'Sixxer'. What went wrong?
Yes, I had even shot for five episodes. Keerti Gaekwad was paired opposite me. But looks like destiny had other plans for me - the serial got scrapped and I got 'Kyunki…'.
How has your experience with fame been?
It feels nice to be recognised and adored. I get fan mails from all over the world - Denmark, Pakistan, Germany, Bangladesh and of course India too. When I feel low I just read a fanmail and I get charged up.
Are you not bored playing Lakshya for so long?
No. I believe an actor should not get bored with a certain character as long as the audience is liking it.
Naman Shaw's character is going stronger than yours. Doesn't that make you feel insecure about your role?
I don't think so. Tulsi's track is the strongest. It is Tulsi all the way. Rest of the actors tracks keep coming and going. It makes no difference.
Do you miss Smriti Z Iraani as Tulsi?
It feels different without her. It even feels awkward at times since a new person is playing the character. But I think Gautami is doing well and she is being accepted in the character.
How is it working with Ronit Roy?
I share a great rapport with him. If I feel low he understands without my saying it and he counsels me. He gives inputs and more than telling me what to do, he tells me what not to do.
It is said that Rakshanda Khan treats you like her son.
She doesn't treat me like a son. But yes, It feels nice when she is around. She is caring by nature and I get along with her.
You are a magician also. Will you take it up professionally someday?
Performing arts is career for me - be it magic or acting. I haven't done a professional magic show. I am planning a series on street magic to be telecast on television.
Describe your dream girl?
My girlfriend should be simple yet modern. She should be strong enough to be independent. Moreover I should also deserve her.
