Will Smriti return in 'Kyunkii'?
The war between the leading ladies of television; Ektaa Kapoor and Smriti Z Iraani, is witnessing a new turn of events. There's a buzz that even as the new Tulsi, played by Gautami Gadgil, in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' (Star Plus) is surely winning hearts, Smritii could well be back in the show. Incidently, her supposed three month break from the show is soon coming to an end.
Smriti and Ektaa parted ways after the former decided to get more aggressive on the production front with the shows launched by her firm Ugraya Productions.
Apparently, Smriti started ignoring the shooting schedules of 'Kyunkii' and would often come late and keep everybody on the sets waiting. Later, Ektaa pulled out of the co-production with Smriti for the weekend show 'Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman' (Star Plus).
So, will Smriti return to the show that made her and the producer a household name? Says Smriti, "The decision of packing off my role in 'Kyunkii' was taken by Ektaa. It's solely for her to decide whether she wants me back in the show or not. But, I have huge respect for the show that became one of the longest running ones on the small screen."
Persist and ask her if she will return and she adds, "I don't want to comment on it since it's not my wish alone. I reiterate that the decision lies with Ektaa and I can only react to what she decides."
Incidentally, Balaji Telefilms and Ugraya Productions will be making software for the upcoming INX Media's bouquet of channels headed by Indrani Mukherjea. Incidentally, Smriti's production 'Virrudh' (Sony) did not create ripples as expected.
