Prakashilpa this tradition has been going on from generation to generation, a girl goes to Sasural and a "Man" who stays with his inlaws is considered "Ghar-jamai". Girl going sasural is tradition and YES a guy staying with his wife's parents doesn't go very well, yes it is funny.
For Desigrl05 SN is a guest house, everybody just comes and parks themselves at SN. Indu was there all the time, her mother (I forget her name) lived more at SN then she did at her own home/sasural.

That can happen in real life Baa was Indu's badi-nani and your allowed to stay in the nani's house, if you want. Sejal also stayed there a lot but it is her home after all before she was married she was a Virani. However, Suhasi lived in London with her family. Anyone can stay at there nani's house, it happens a lot in reality. Besides Sejal didn't like staying in Anand's house because of her class. Besides she is coming back soon, as revealed in an article.

Well TRADITION is not an explanation for the word " funny" ...and please ...what makes you think that the house belongs to sons and daughter in laws and not daughters ..when people can break traditions in lots of fields and prevail commensense ...I dont know why these groom convenient customs are stillprevalent ..i dont know bout you ..but ..i think ..now a days ..after wedding ..the son and the daughter move out of the house and start their living ...n family...( if not all most of them are coming out of that dumb tradition) ....it is as much suffocating for a girl to live in sasuraal ...as much as her husband feels to stay in hers...

And those girls who blindly believe that sasuraal is their "own home " let me tell you ...if ur husband is upset with you ..or he kicks you out ..or you upset ur inlaws ...or bereavement happens ..people kick u out with out second thought ...and i dont think such a living is called .."own home"
