Using caps does mean shouting. We may not mean to shout when using CAPS, but thats how the rules have been framed in the internet lingo.

Imagine Someone Shouting All the Time
Not only would it mean little when she shouted, it is also more difficult to understand somebody who shouts. Similarly, text in upper case is significantly more difficult to read than lower and mixed case text.
Also, about character bashing.....Yes, its frustartaing at times to see illogical stuff happening and sometimes its the character and at other times the person enacting the role who is at the receiving end. So why bash them for the ppor storyline or creativity ? The loyal supporters go on either side and sometimes a third front which is neutral emerges. Cant we understand and be tolerant rather than stooping to bashing and personal attacks.
Of course, we can and thats whats expected
