Joydeep is a qualified doctor

Actor Manav Vij who plays Joydeep in Kyunki… is nothing like his scared and timid character in real life. A doctor by profession he suddenly decided that he wanted to entertain people and hence tried his luck in showbiz. The actor played Sukhdev in one of the Bhagat Singh movies. Manav who has done lots of Punjabi and Telugu movies, was asked to play Joydeep after someone from Balaji saw one of his films. But didn't the role worry him? After all he looks like Jassi's pre-makeover twin.

"The role didn't worry me. What matters to me is good work. I am also popular with the kids." But the actor does reveal that every time he dresses up like Joydeep he starts laughing and his friends on the sets too start laughing. "Recently while I was travelling, lots of people came up to me in the airport and all of them wanted me to get a makeover," he confides. Unfortunately he doesn't reveal when the makeover will take place. All he says is that everything is up to Ekta Kapoor.

It might take a while before Joydeep transforms into a hunk, but you can catch him looking like himself in his current Punjabi films. "I have just completed a Punjabi movie called Mannat with Jimmy Shergill and I did a guest appearance in Baarish. It went to the Oscars. The producer likes me a lot and is a very good friend of mine. He has now signed me for another Punjabi film," says Manav.

When asked whom he hangs out with on sets, he names people who dislike him in reel life. Amit Tandon and Rakshanda Khan are good friends. "Rakshanda is a very good friend. I like chatting with her a lot." He also gets on with Sameer Baswana and Pulkit.
