Sans Smriti, it's havoc with 'Kyunki…'

Before Smriti Z Irani (Tulsi) contracted dengue and had to be hospitalised, the story of 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' (Star Plus) ran thus - Tulsi would bring the long lost Ganga (Shilpa Saklani) back into the Shantiniketan fold, thus rubbing salt into the wounds of Trupti (Suvarna), Sahil's (Sandeep Baswana) second wife.

But there was to be a twist in the tale, necessitating Tulsi's presence throughout the track. Ganga would incriminate Tulsi in the murder of Sahil, thus landing the much venerated Tulsi into jail. But soon Ganga would realise that it's not Tulsi, but Trupti who had masterminded Sahil's murder.

And as it turns out, Sahil isn't really dead. Trupti had manipulated matters in such a way that Sahil has been kidnapped and Tulsi drugged to make it look like she has killed Sahil. The chapter in the soap's life would have ended with Sahil and Ganga coming together and Trupti leaving the house.

However, according to sources, the script is being drastically changed and it is expected that Smriti will have Tusli Ba playing a benevolent matriarch, while Ganga will play the good bahu for a change. The negative element is to be provided by Lakshya's (Pulkit) wife, who is yet to be cast, say sources.

For those who thought Lakshya would marry Tulsi Krishna (Mouli), there's disappointment. Balaji is still hunting for a girl to play Lakshya's wife, who can take over the negative roles left vacant by the Mandiras and Savitas of the serial.

With Smriti's forced vacation, however, Ektaa Kapoor might just be forced to change the track altogether till the actor recovers.
