Three is a company?
T he two bickering women are back. The saas-bahu team of Sachin's 11-year-old hit comedy Tu Tu Main Main return but this time, the equations have changed. Why? Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi and so Supriya Pilgaonkar, who played the daughter-in-law is now the mother-in-law while her saas played by Reema still continues to be the 'don' of the house.
Sucheta Pawshe joins the two women as the new daughter-in-law. She's the 'dadimom's' chosen one, as her husband (Karan, played by Ali Asgar) is 'grandma's boy', a fact rued by his mother. And so together, the grand bahu and the grand saas ensure that the original bahu continues to be tormented. Called Kadvee Khatti Meethi, though Sachin (who's producing and directing it) assures us that the title doesn't refer to the qualities of the three women but "the nature of the relationship they share with each other." Besides Asgar and Pawshe, Swapnil Joshi too joins the cast as Arjun, the youngest, skirt-chasing son. Interestingly, he is dadi's grand-daughter because she always wanted a grand daughter and since another son was born, she prefers to call him her poti," explains Sachin.
A sneak peek revealed that the sitcom still is high on humour. Reema and Supriya still continue to pull off the antics, like Tom and Jerry, with their amazing range of expressions and body language. New entrant Sucheta has a tough task to keep it going. Both Ali and Swapnil are happy to "be on the sidelines and watch the fun." Says Swapnil, "To work with Sachin is fun. He is brilliant." Ali says he's fortunate "to have a friendship with Sachin that extends beyond a working relationship". However, Reema has the last word, "The saas-bahu relationship shown here is very healthy unlike the scheming women you see in other serials. Finally, it's all about maintaining peace at home."
