A Sparkling STAR at SKY!

Glittering as always was STAR Plus as one of the channel's most recognised faces - Smriti Irani performed in a play at the SKY Festival. Just an another effort to bring Indian entertainment to global corridors!

Over 36 different venues for stage events and over 500 live hours of events over the 3-day SKY Festival… This would just be a modest introduction to an event as big as this.

For all those of you who are not familiar, here is what it's all about - From 11 August to 13 August Sky Festival lit up Manchester, United Kingdom. With more than 31 TV channels hosting over 36 specially created events, Sky Festival aimed to enthrall and entertain people of all ages and interests with a massive range of activities in and around Manchester's most famous landmarks. With most events assuring free entry, SKY Festival was a promise well delivered.

Going places, STAR Plus held a successful event at the festival with Smriti Irani as their ambassador. Amidst all the Hearthrow Bomb threats, Smriti and her crew braved it to the United Kingdom to perform to her eager fans across the oceans.

Kuch Tum Kaho, Kuch Hum Kahien
At The Bridgewater Hall on 12th and 13th August, they performed a family play titled - Kuch Tum Kaho, Kuch Hum Kahien. Smriti Irani played a different role - From her regular homemaker character, Smriti played a woman who focused on her career.

A play with a slight twist in the plot and in an effort to move away from the usual saas-bahu dramas, Smriti Irani was seen playing the lead in a baap-beta based plot. Hang on, there was a saas in the story line and that was well executed by popular dancer and actor, Sudha Chandran.

Aur kuch mel-joll!
In this rare opportunity for STAR Plus in the country, fans meet and saw their small screen idols LIVE and on stage. The play was followed by a 'meet and greet session' where visitors met their screen idols, took pictures with them and received autographs. While some die-hard fans lined up for hours for the autographs, there were some who just couldn't get enough of the stars and attended the play on both the days.

Bollywood Jataks-Mataks
In addition, STAR PLUS offered Bollywood dance classes where visitors learnt how to dance like a Bollywood star under the supervision of Sapnay School of Dance, who have in a short period of time been recognized within the industry as the First Ever UK Bollywood Champions for teaching different styles of dance such as Bollywood, Bhangra, Street and Hip Hop.

To total it all up, STAR Celebration was one of the headline events at the prestigious Sky Festival - the UK's newest and biggest free entertainment festival. The SKY and the STAR sparkled at the Festival!
