FAN-A-TIC
Vashi2Panvel.Com: Navi Mumbai: July 14:It is said that the success of a star depends on the strength of his fan following. But fans are not always sane. The manifestation of their admiration can go to unbelievable lengths. From flooding their favourite star with fan mails to sending love notes to slashing their wrists to even committing suicide when the star gets married, there have been umpteen tales in showbiz about just how crazy fans can get.
In the seventies when Rajesh Khanna the reigning superstar of the times got married to Dimple Kapadia, a fifteen-year-old school girl, there was a spate of suicides. When there were rumours about Dream Girl Hema Malini getting married to Jeetendra, one maniacal fan climbed up the boundary wall of her bungalow, up the pipes and into the bedroom of her parents. It is said that the incident precipitated her dad's heart attack.
wies in the hands of its admirers. To put in right, who is a star who has no fans? But like they say too much of nothing is good, too much of a fondness towards somebody could be dangerous too. It's most amusing when the danger is translated to the star! Our tele and film stars tell us about some of their maniacal fan experiences.
The king of laughter, Shekhar Suman who undoubtedly has a fan following that can be beaten only by Shahrukh too has a fan he can never forget. "I was on a show where I came across this guy who had tattooed my name on his body. I was left spellbound not knowing what was coming next. He started to cry, and confessed that he could not control his emotions on seeing me. His accompanists then told me that he was thrown out of his house for he was so fanatic about me and even used to celebrate my birthday in his village as though it is a festival". That sure is unbelievable but unfortunately this isn't one of Shekhar's jokes but reality.
It really is amusing how sometimes people become so crazy about a celebrity that they not only sub-consciously but consciously have an impact on the person's life. Stars have to face fans day in and day out, and why shouldn't they, it is the fans that make them or brake them! However some incidents could be so bitter that one might not want to share them. Don't know about others but I guess Rajeshwari Sachdev had at least one such incident for she is not ready to share it with us. Well its not even too good manners to interfere in ones personal life! But there's one incident that must be shared and that's of Aakashdeep Sehgal. He had a maniacal fan experience but not his own fan but of Gauri and Hiten Tejwani, the famous Nandni and Karan of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, "There was this little kid who would constantly give me threatening calls for I was bad to Nandini and Karan in the serial! I just could'nt stop laughing and that kid too had immense patience. I had to finally threaten him that I would beat him up along with his Karan uncle to make him stop making those calls!" narrates Aakashdeep giggling! Poor Aakashdeep, had to carry the burden of others fans too!
