Villainous deed!

TV baddies give their take on co-villain Manoj Bohra being uninvited for the Mizoram Peace festival where he was first invited as chief guest

Jaya Bhattacharya: When I played Payal in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', I faced a similar situation - people, especially kids would be scared of me. But this is taking things too far. It's not fair to label an actor as 'bad' as it's just a job he's doing. We are humans too. We cannot be segregated because of our portrayals.

Mandira Bedi: People need to know that what they are watching is unreal; they need to grow up. It's said that I chose to walk out of 'Kyun Kii…' as I didn't want to play a negative character. But it's not true; I had a good time playing the role. I have no problems playing a grey character either, regardless of how I get treated by some ignorant people.

Rakshanda Khan: Nothing can be more ridiculous! Look at the legendary actor Amrish Puri. He was a hugely popular villain. He even headed several committees. A person playing a positive role need not be a 'good' person in real life and vice versa. As for me, it's not going to affect in any way; I'll continue to play roles that appeal to me.

Tanaaz Lal: I guess it has something to do with the location in question; Mumbai for example, wouldn't take any role seriously as there's greater awareness among the audiences here. It's just bizarre that people take you for what you portray on screen. People need to be educated or next they will throw out actors who play aliens!
