PROFILE: Nasir Kazi
Nitin Joshi
Nasir Kazi has been around for some time now. And, he's done it all. Television, films, theatre. Acting, anchoring, you name it. Commercials too. And music videos. In fact, that's how this talented actor's journey started out.

What you may not know is that he is the son of the famous comedian, Johny Walker. Some day soon he is going to have his own production house called Johny Walker Productions. However, as of now he is happy and content with acting in three very popular dailies - Kesar, Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Couldn't ask for more.

''God has been very kind. The kind of work that's been coming in has been really very satisfying. In spite of being around for some time now, the desire, the fire, the energy is still there. I have been lucky to do a variety of roles and that's true even today. It helps me grow as an actor and also as a person,'' smiles Nasir.

So what are his roles like? In Kesar he is Koomal. ''And it goes like - 'Hi, I am Koomal with a double 'O','' he laughs. Koomal, is a fashion designer from UK who is a little bit on the feminine side with colourful and flowery clothes, hair pulled in the front and lots of make-up. Quite an interesting character and Nasir is performing it very well. He's in control. Very subtle. ''I am loving Koomal. I improvise a lot and I see people laughing on the sets. This character brings relief to show. It adds a little humour to it,'' adds the actor. In Kasauti Zindagi Kay he plays the very serious, sober Vineet, Tanisha's father ''very matured. Doesn't talk much. It's of a different flavour. I play a character a little older than my age,'' he says. And, in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi he plays Abhishek whose wife and kid have left him because of his wrong ways. ''Now, he wants to undo the wrong and bring them back home,'' he reveals. By the way, folks, that's not all. He also is busy anchoring. There is Yeh Hai Hasya Kavi Muqabla on Zee Smile ''which is a stand-up with poetry and shero shayri.''. Then there is another one called Cross Connection which is a street chat show where multiple people give multiple answers obviously, when asked multiple questions. ''And the questions are very simple and funny like, ''Acchi bahu mein kya gunn hona chahiye... what qualities do you need to be on item girl, etc. It's complete fun,'' he laughs.

Nasir also has a show coming up on DD called Haath Se Haath Mila which talks about HIV-Aids awareness. ''Life is good. Very happy - always. Like I said, God's being kind,'' he concludes.
