5th March, 1999. At a hall in Matunga (Mumbai). Hetal. I wore a sherwani and Hetal wore a red coloured Gujarati sari with the pallav in front. Arranged. Two months. The engagement ceremony is not practised among Gujaratis. However the wedding ring is a simple gold band. Honesty and simplicity. The whole wedding was expensive, right from food, jewellery to the honeymoon. It was a typical Gujarati wedding ceremony. We invited around 1000 guests and the marriage looked more like a swayamvar. That's because all the men were so well dressed that I did not look like 'the' groom but like one of the grooms. |
