Megha Gupta, who quit the television industry to complete her studies, has accepted and returned to fulfill her destiny as an actress!
Planning for films is out of question – Megha Gupta
Life has been a roller-coaster ride for the 22-year-old Lokhandwala resident Megha Gupta. She came to Mumbai in 2004 to complete her graduation and get into event management, and is now an established actor in tellyworld.
A Delhiiite, Megha Gupta has stayed all over the country, even though she is more at home in Mumbai. It was while doing the 'Mass Media' course at Wilson College that Megha's tryst with television took off.
The course required her to do a project on Balaji Telefilms. "I was waiting at the Balaji office to meet the CEO for my project. As I was leaving the office, one of the Balaji production members came and asked me to audition for their serial, 'Kkavyanjali'. I refused at first, as I had no interest in acting. Then, the CEO himself persuaded me to give acting a shot. I was sitting at Fun Republic, when I got a call from Ektaa Kapoor's office, saying that she wanted to meet me. I went there, and Ektaa herself offered me a lead role in that serial. I refused yet again."
A nervous Megha immediately called her mother and told her everything. "My mother convinced me to take up the role in 'Kkavyanjali'," recalls Megha Gupta. Her foray into acting lasted for six months, as Megha decided to quit. "Studies were my priority, and I was not getting any time for it."
After her graduation, Megha got another offer. She took up the offer to play Kumkum.
While working in an event management company, I realised acting was what I was destined for. I quit my job to become a full-time actress," informs Megha Gupta.
While doing 'Kumkum', Megha was also seen in 'Mamta' and 'CID'. "I have not done any course in acting. I have learnt everything watching others on the sets. I am still learning," she says with a broad smile.
Currently, Megha Gupta is playing the lead character in 'Main Teri Parchhain Hoon'. She's happy to have only one serial in hand, "This role takes my entire day. We work for more than 15 hours everyday. Whenever I do have the time, I do some episodes of 'CID'," she says.
When she's not shooting, she whiles away her time in rustling up a delicious fare at home and going on long drives.
So, has the Bollywood bug bitten her yet? She says, "Honestly, I never had plans to get into acting, so planning for films is out of question. I've yet to make my portfolio. Having said that, should some interesting film offers come my way, I will surely take them up," concurs Megha Gupta.
