It's that time of the year

Come December 31, and the entire Mumbai will get into a party mood. It's the time when people bid adieu to the year gone by and welcome the new calendar. Our TV celebs are no different. Screen spoke to a few of them to find out how they plan to usher in 2006. Most TV stars will be out of the city of dreams (Mumbai) on the eve of new year. Goa seems to be their most favoured destination. According to Nisha (K Street Pali Hill), the former Portuguese colony is the most happening and chilled place to be in for the year end. "Nobody bothers you, you can do your own thing and dress the way you want," she informs. So, if you are in Goa, you are likely to bump into Nisha at some beach party, where she and her gang will be boogying away all night. Hiten Tejwani (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) will also be in Goa with family and close friends, where they plan to celebrate the new year quietly with a few drinks and later on drop in at parties. If he goes there without his wife Gauri, he may even try the rave parties. "Life is meant to experiment, I want to see why these guys do drugs and behave in this manner," he says.
Anuj Saxena (Kkusum) the self-confessed most married man of Indian television prefers to head out to his family farmhouse in Alibaug, with his parents, brother sister and their respective families. They will quietly welcome the New Year with barbeque and some drinks by the pool side. Later on, they will go visiting friends, who also have farm houses close by. Priya Wal (Anvesha, Remix) will mostly be in Mumbai or back home in Delhi depending on the number of days she gets off. Whereever she will be, she will make it a point to celebrate with close friends and party till the wee hours of the morning. "Our Delhi farm house bashes can get as wild as the heppest Mumbai parties," she reveals. She has not yet decided whether she will wear hot pants or skirts, but one thing, she is sure of is that she will carry her attitude with her dressing.

All stars believe that it's really important to celebrate special days like New Year for it gives them a chance to let their hair down and party with gay abandon. It's a must after slogging away at the sets for hours, says Nisha. Anuj cannot understand why people go to three or four parties on new years' eve rather then just one, because that way they end up spending more time stuck in traffic instead of enjoying the night.

One thing that stars don't like about new year parties is the binge drinking which some people indulge in. "Please enjoy yourself and let others also have fun," says Tisca Chopra. However, Ronit Roy (Kasauti Zindagii Kay) is of the opinion that those who get sozzled on new year, do it all time.

Tisca Chopra will be celebrating this new year's eve at the airport, as she and her pilot husband are flying away to Hong Kong that night. She may just attend one party briefly, before heading out to the airport. She doesn't mind missing the celebrations as she is all set to enjoy six days of fun and relaxation with her husband in Hong Kong. The only exception to the partying rule is Achint Kaur (Piya Ka Ghar,) who really cannot understand the craze behind new year day. For me, "its just like any other day" says the bindaas Punjabi babe.

This is one time when everybody makes resolutions, but hardly anybody ever follows them. Says Shruti Seth (Shararat) "Every year, I resolve to loose weight but just can't." Ronit Roy who is not sure where he will be on the eve of the new year always uses this period to contemplate on what went right or wrong in the past year and make future plans (in fact he does this, twice a year). Tisca, on the other hand, tries to look at the positive side only, as this will strengthen her resolve to do better, in the coming year. Priya Wal has no intentions of taking a back check, for she believes that there is no sense in crying over spilt milk, especially at a time when life has been good to her.
