She had got bored of being the teary-eyed bahu on TV; actor Juhi Parmar is now happy that she is making her audience smile
When the teary-eyed bahu from Kumkum stepped onto the stage of a comedy reality show — Comedy Circus, it was a big surprise for everyone. But Juhi Parmar not only performed well, she actually went on to win it.
"I never really thought that I would end up doing stand-up comedy but I have always had a very good sense of humour. People close to me always told me I should be doing comedy because I always make people laugh. I didn't have any doubts either so I took it up," she says.
Juhi was tired playing a very serious character in a daily soap and that's why she has veered towards light-hearted parts. Juhi's also happy that her character in Kumkum too has moved from being a very serious woman to a fun character.
"I'm back to being young and the character has become very funny. There is great scope for comedy. She's a chatter mouth and a big prankster. I love it. The best part is
I'm back to playing my age," the actor adds.
After winning a comedy show, Juhi has now moved to Saas vs Bahu — a dance reality show.
Isn't she tired of reality shows? "I started with a singing reality show, then did comedy and now dance — it's my third reality show. But there's great variety. Each show has a different format. So you don't get bored doing them," she answers.
Though she's doing a variety of shows, Juhi is not keen on signing any other soap. "Kumkum doesn't give me that scope. I am there in every scene of Kumkum. So I balance it out by doing a reality show and a couple of events alongside. That also gives me time for other things," she signs off.
