Note: Please ignore if you're not entertained by long posts. This is just my thoughts that I wanted to write somewhere.
I'm confused as to why they showed Abhi to be so normal during this ML track? Besides the fact that he's gone from being a grouch to a complete softie, he's still doing what normal non-ML Abhi did. He makes decisions about his life, he is able to financially make decisions, he is able to answer questions appropriately, he knows how to drive, he goes pretty much anywhere without supervision. I know I'm asking for too much from KKB when it comes to logistics, but from the ML patients I have seen in hospitals, Abhi is nothing what a normal ML patient goes through. They're basically non-functional. And yes, Abhi might be sensitive when it comes to knowing certain information about his life, but he is a functioning person. He's just fine. If he's able to withstand a targeted shooting, bomb attack, and all these horrible things he and Pragya have gone through, it shows his strength, not his weakness!
Is he a softie because of having mental imbalances/serious brain injury? I dont think so. Old Abhi wasn't a grouch from the beginning, he was just selfish and big-headed. He loved himself and Daadi/Aalu the most. He didn't care about anyone else, but he wasn't a grouch. He went through a lot of misunderstandings, such as thinking Pragya was a goldigger, she was stealing Purab from Aalu, etc. And he chose to stay blinded from the multiple evidences that would come his way against all the theories he had made against Pragya in his head. He wasn't proactive about figuring out what was happening around him. Then, when he found out Pragya is actually this great girl and she confessed she loved him, he had no idea what to do. Maybe it was because he hadn't gotten such a love from someone that was unconditional, with no expections to be returned back to her. Maybe it was because he was shocked/stunned that after all that happened between them, after misunderstanding her at every step of the way, she still fell in love with him. Maybe he just COULD NOT believe that he's getting her love after all that he could do to make her hate him. And thats why he was a grouch-because he was always a little apprehensive, unconvinced she could really love him. Maybe thats why he was so quick to believe she went from Fuggy to Mogambo-he just had this self-doubt from the start that she couldn't possibly love HIM.
Current Abhi has no such guilt. He doesn't remember he has to be grouchy because Purab and Aalu didn't make it to the altar. I'm sorry, I mean mandap. 😳 Current Abhi doesn't remember he went ahead and blindly accepted Taaliyah's plan of ruining a girl's life by getting married to her as a revenge. He doesn't remember that he time and time again didn't believe her when she was accused by someone in the family. He doesn't remember that they went through tough times before she fell in love with him and in return, she found out Tabhi were having a baby. Yeah, they've gone through a struggle! And there were a lot of reasons for Abhi to be frustrated in life in the past-he had been wrong about so many things and he didn't know how to fix it.
Current Abhi has no reason to feel guilty. He hasn't made any mistakes in the past and so he's this happy-go-lucky guy we never got to see. Yes, I do agree that he's totally not as self-centered as before-he also respects his fans A LOT more than before. And I actually adore current ML Abhi. He's nice inside and out! But I dont think the current softness in his persona is because of any impairments due to ML. If that was so, it wouldn't be just on his persona-we should have been able to see that mentally, physically, and physiologically as well. I think his gentleness is moreso because in his mind, he's got a clear slate. He has no reason to be a grouch right now.
I mean if I'm really going to think about what Abhi is mentally going through, Pragya has gone through a lot too. She's survived a struggling marriage (still trying to survive), she's been kidnapped and physically bound SEVERAL TIMES NOW, she's gone through several accusations placed on her where no one was ready to believe her and those that were, wouldn't speak up for her in support. She's gone through seeing her husband get shot all alone in the jungle and try to revive him. She's gone through seeing him in a horrible state after falling off the cliff and fighting with hospital staff who deemed him dead to give him another chance. She's suffered through a fatal car accident, where no one but two strangers were there for her at the hospital, when she needed someone by her side. So to say that she's also mentally exhausted would definitely be an understatement!!! But still, so much expectations are placed on her by everyone on KKB to fight off the villains, be there to help Abhi get therapy, keep her own family safe, stay away from Abhi if she gives him any brain attacks, but still be there if he needs her.
If I do recall, Mogambo came into the house after a traumatic head injury where she was also declared dead and came back to life. If viewers should not expect much from Abhi right now, why did viewers expect so much from Mogambo after that accident??
By saying that Pragya has gone through a lot, I'm not taking anything away from Abhi. He's gone through a lot as well (and its been listed in many different places on the forum). They've both suffered. And my heart goes out for both of them, its terrible they both have to go through these horrible things! But my whole point of this was that because there are so many expectations from Pragya even though she's probably mentally exhausted, if not physically, but we dont talk about it. Because its not shown that she's exhausted and mentally drained. And if they dont show it, I guess we are to believe its not there. So she is expected to not fail and and to be successful in everything that she does. She can't be tired. Because she never said she is, they don't show that she's physically/emotionally/mentally drained, etc etc, so she should be able to fulfill expectations that Mehras/Aroras and everyone has of her. Likewise, they're not showing that Abhi is impaired in any way, at least in my opinion. So therefore, I have certain expectations from Abhi as well and rightfully so. And all I'm asking if for him to be proactive about himself. If he can handle bomb blasts and target shootings, i'm sure he can handle googling and finding out that he's married, or that he was married, or that Tanu is a witch, or that Aalu was disowned by him.
P.S. Sorry, I'm not taking Aalu erasing google as an answer. That was absolutely pathetic of an excuse by CVs. 😆
