Yes it is to some extent.

But recently some shows had the following,

1) Heroine saree was removed in front of her family by a bad guy.

2) A 60 year old woman was made to dance on glass peices.

3) A woman was termed mad and given electric shock.

4) A girl was shown as kaala theka for another girl.

These are the recent stuff I heard off. Comparing to it KB is better.
It doesn't show domestic or sexual violence against women.

The facade is contemporary ( RS lead, dressing, glitter etc ). But the content definitely is regressive, especially when it comes to what women in this show do and what they are expected to do.
Imagine who in this age would tolerate so much drama about a third wheel in a relationship, extramarital affair, having to marry for a child in such a relationship as if this is the end all be all solution. This was told with so much conviction, that I do worry about some naive audiences that might be watching this show. Of course all of us had to tolerate the kumkum, MS lines which again I cannot find any relevance in today's society or contemporary issues. Yes, it is offensive at certain points of the story to my sensibilities, in terms of how regressive this show is. I can't compare this with other shows as I haven't watched any and hopefully won't in the future.

OK, having said all this, this wicked couple ( Abhi, Pragya ) make up for all the frustrations😃

Good point for discussion👏, Anu. Lot of food for thought. Hope you are up to it.

It is regressive with the way they show women and values at times. But generally it's an upbeat show with comedy and fresh air but I would not call it a progressive show at all.

I don't watch other shows but hearing what they are about, KB feels way better than them.

Kkb at times goes over dramatic for justifying it's title but as Prani said every show shows women being idealistic bahu /wife .

Brilliantly said Mili ,I hate this aspect about kkb, they portray Pragya as a super women who has to endure so much pain to get her kumkum.
