Hi,
I tried to write an AU and ended up writing this.
He was standing near the bus stop and it started raining. He wished he had worn his hooded jacket instead of the black overcoat he was wearing. He hated the idea of his hair getting wet. He saw a tree few buildings away and ran to it. There were many people standing under the tree. He was glad there were people like him and unlike her. He saw a kid hopping in rain and he got reminded of her. She was his special someone. She loved dancing when it rained. She loved dancing when it snowed. She loved dancing when the sun shined. Actually she loved dancing whatever the season be. In fact, it was her love for dance and free spirit that attracted him towards her. But what you feel when you see her and what she is actually can never be correct most of the time. If you see her, the way she talks, you wouldn't believe that she was a sincere PhD student. It's not that PhD students shouldn't be like her. It's just that she wasn't like others.
He completed an almost impossible task today. He had convinced her for a movie date with him. She hated watching movies. A person who has the latest film song lyrics and tune at her fingertips doesn't want to watch movies. The reason she gives would blow your mind. She doesn't want to watch movies because it's too much of emotional investment for her. He would ask her whether music doesn't have emotions. They would have endless arguments with no one winning at the end because both of them get tired and give up. She agreed to come today because she had promised him that she would do whatever he asks if a particular journal published her paper. You guessed it right, her paper was published and he used the opportunity to get his wish fulfilled which would remain in the shelf otherwise.
The rainfall reduced to drizzle. He took out his phone and texted her to ask where she was. He got a reply from her stating that she was on her way. "On her way", these words made him sigh. He expected her to come in a orange long sleeve top and blue pyjamas with a messy hair bun. This is how she usually looked. This is how she came whenever he asked her to come out with him be it a short walk or a trip to some tourist place nearby. No earrings, no rings, no bangles. She doesn't wear any accessories other than her large circular spectacles. There are occasions where she would be completely different and that is during festivals. She would wear sarees, earrings and whatever accessories other girls wear usually. When he asked why she doesn't wear them regularly, she would say that it didn't mean she didn't like wearing them but she was lazy to wear all that. He was not at all convinced with her excuse. "She doesn't feel lazy to listen to songs, to read news, to study, to dance crazily, to flirt with boys, to drink and talk rubbish, to travel, to do all mad things in the world but feels lazy to concentrate on her looks", he would murmur whenever she gave the excuse.
The sky became brighter and there were no traces of rainfall. He was looking at his phone screen and the bus stop nearby alternatively. He saw her coming. To his surprise, she was wearing a saree, a black saree with golden coloured embroidery work. She had worn earrings and bangles too. He was mesmerized by seeing her like that. He saw that the boys around him were also in awe. She came to him and told 'Beauty with brains'. He looked at her with a blank face. She asked whether that was the thought going on his mind after seeing her. He grinned from ear to ear. He wished he had also worn something more matching than the blue tee, black overcoat and black jeans. He asked her why she didn't tell him before that she was going to wear a saree. They started arguing.
They reached the theatre. He went to the ticket counter while she was looking around. A guy came and tried to flirt with her. Our girl loves to flirt too. So she started responding to the guy's questions. When he came back with the ticket he saw her doing mischief as usual. He gave her a side hug and told the guy, "Dude, you are late. She's my wife". Before they entered the cinema hall, she whispered something into his ears. It was this word - "forever".
