I think she was way too disappointed on missing him. She was ready to risk her life just for the sake of seeing him.
May be cameras angles were such that she was sure that Nikhil's face was not captured.

Because Purab also did not say that Tanu's BF face would have been captured, he said only about Tanu. May be only voice was recorded and they can not make out based only on his voice.
