AbhiGya Drabble - Rockstar's Query
A lot had happened in the Mehra Mansion in just about twenty-four hours. The Rockstar had gotten engaged to his long-time ex-flame, the ex-super-model, his sister was caught trying to ruin his career by selling his works in the black-market, his cousin brother was caught laundering his wealth, his fianc was caught bearing someone else's' child, the same said woman was caught by his ex-wife and his present owner, the following morning once again, while she was trying to murder his grandmother for being the master mind of getting her and her gang caught. As if that was not all, it turned out everybody, well everybody he cared about anyway, knew about the foul play of the trio except him. His daadi was the mastermind, his ex-wife and owner to his brand name was the queen pawn, his best friend Purab was the adviser and his loving sister alike Bulbul and daasi were the soldiers.
As he looked around these faces, well everybody other than his daadi's of course, as she was in the ICU outside which he sat right now, he felt strange. He was apparently "Saved" that's what his daadi had told her favourite bahu and her gang before falling, but he never felt more exposed, wounded or raw. The humungous magnanimity of the backstabbing cheats and their actions were settling in, as he sat there quietly talking to no-one. He had receded to a corner - he didn't know if he had cornered himself or they had cornered him. He sat there waiting for his daadi to revive, his face now hidden behind his hand - very weary of the world.
He felt a small soft palm on his shoulder, he didn't need to look up to know who it was. He sighed and looked up to a teary faced ex-wife peer at him anxiously, even without the specs she looked like his fuggy today. But he didn't smile, he just looked back at her, his expression was vacant in shock. She read his face and gently sat next to him.
"Suniye, you are okay right? You..you don't hate me anymore right? You know now nah why I did what I did?" she asked concerned. The Rockstar just stared at her face and then glanced at the ICU door. Her eyes followed his, "She will be fine, you know her nah? Daadi is a race horse, she was my constant source of support, she will come out healthy to celebrate this massive win of ours" she said through teary eyes and a smiling face.
"Massive victory of your's" the Rockstar mumbled. He wasn't making a point; he just repeated the words now looking down between his knees.
"Suniye we all did this for you. Your wellbeing, your safety. You trust me right?" she asked with a wavering voice. The Rockstar looked up at her reddened eyes and slightly puckering lips, he gently traced the skin on her cheeks and saw her respond in an instant by closing her eyes shut in peace. He gently asked her, while still caressing her cheek, "Why did you all need to bring Aaliya, Tanu and Raj down before me? Why was it important?"
Her eyes flung open in surprise as her head shot up in dismay. "Why? You're asking why? They had no right being in your life, they had no right to be loved by you! They cheated you, betrayed your trust, lied to you and hurt you." She said with big round eyes.
The Rockstar smiled, but there was no warmth in that smile, he held her chin and tipped her face up, and answered, "Haven't you, daadi and your gang done just the same thing?" She gasped in shock and realization, but before she could respond, the doctor came out of the ICU and informed that daadi had made it, she was fine. They all sighed in relief. But the next moment her eyes were back on the Rockstar, he was looking at her anyway.
"Thankfully daadi survived all this" he said emotionlessly and paused a little before continuing, "But Abhi didn't make it till the end after all" he whispered. She looked at him in rude shock and an ugly awakening, nothing would ever be alright now, she just knew it, as she saw the Rockstar finally rise up and walk away from there.
THE END!
