Abhigya didn't just gracefully fall right into love - they both tripped and fell...on their face. It was an unexpected and confusing event for both. And all they both could do afterwards, was try to stand up -as carefully as they could - while trying to figure out, what in the world had just happened to them both.
Pragya doesn't love Abhi more than he does her, just as Abhi doesn't love Pragya more than she does him.
There is no right or wrong way to love someone. What is love? There is no clean-cut definition for love. It can't be measured, proven or described.
Love is just...love, and I for one love how this show has tackled it.
LOVE: Loving an idea, infatuation, and true love
Pragya and Suresh: She never loved him. She was at a low point in her life - in a vulnerable state - when she began to confuse her feelings of friendship and mistake it for love. Her family helped to perpetuate the idea that the relationship she shared with Suresh should be labeled as such. What she was in love with was the idea of loving her friend.
Abhi and Tanu: Abhi never loved Tanu. He lusted after her yes, but he never loved her. He used to know this. Abhi never believed in love. Pragya herself overheard him mocking love during the early days of the show - and this was during the time when he was dating Tanu. He didn't think love existed. He just saw it as an emotion that foolish people believed in, a belief he took advantage of and cashed in on. Find one episode where Abhi tells Tanu that he loves her. No, not an episode where Pragya is standing right there or he's yelling it at her, but one where Tabhi are alone and he tells her he loves her. Don't bother looking. Because you won't find it. Abhi saying he loved Tanu was part of his torture technique to avenge Aaliya - just as he used to taunt Pragya about her looks. But once he started to clue in to the fact that all was not as it seemed - he stopped. The moment Abhi nicknamed Pragya FUGGY the I love Tanu and you look like witch rants stopped. What he ended up saying after that was - I'm committed to Tanu. I made a promise to Tanu. TRANSLATION: Tanu had become an obligation and his hands were tied.
Surgya and Tabhi served as examples to explain everything wrong with relationships. Abhigya's relationship may have developed at turtle-pace, but the progress they made spoke volumes and felt believable. By the time both confessed love - we the viewers believed it.

Pragya and Abhi: Their relationship is deep and raw and indescribable. They are cosmic: darkness, light, hatred, love, fire and ice, stars aligning, etc... Their relationship may be hinged on destiny and fate and all that pretty jazz that sounds poetic in theory, but Abhigya and their bond is so much deeper than that. It's messy and it's pure - they are a beautiful contradiction. Their relationship is rooted on an emotional level. It's unshakable. Beauty fades but true love will remain and last forever. Their relationship is so intimate without them even getting physical. It's patient. All they have to do is look at each other and the world comes to a halt. They understand each other in ways that no one else ever could. Viewers included. They've been through a lot together. They'll go through more. But there is essentially a silver cord that connects his heart to hers and vice versa.2 Things I don't agree with:
1) Pragya doesn't need to teach Abhi a lesson. Pragya has already forgiven him - the only thing she has every held against him was their Suhagraat-that-never-was. Everything that happened afterwards was ladled in misunderstanding - a misunderstanding that she helped keep him in for her own warranted reasons (because she didn't know him. To her he was just some psychopath she married that had intended to revenge-marry her sister, but got stuck with her instead) - as a result, she could never hold him responsible for his actions. You can't be angry with someone who doesn't know the truth and is acting out because he doesn't know any better. That would be like me having a nightmare about my best friend punching me in the face...only to wake up and confuse myself into thinking that my dream had actually happened. Then my friend comes by and is all buddy-buddy with me and I'm just not having it, because she never apologized. Do you see how ludicrous that sounds? Pragya has never held Abhi responsible and accountable for anything, because it would have been ridiculous to.
2) Abhi's love being tested. I know I've stated before that I see this track as his test. But I don't see this track as a test of Abhi's love. He's proved to us more times than I can count that his love for Pragya is true. What this track is - is his test. God gives everyone as much as they can handle - this is a measure of that faith. This is Abhi's biggest test in life. Abhi said it once himself to Pragya: I've been through a lot in my life, but the biggest thing he has ever had to face was the thought of losing her. God is testing him in that regard. This is a test of his strength. His strength as a person. Not a test of his love.
Oh well. I'm off to get ready for work. Catch you all on the flip side.
