it'd only been two months since abhi and pragya resolved their differences but already they were facing a long separation because of abhi's long-since scheduled european tour. pragya was ok with the idea of staying in mumbai for six months while abhi travelled - she had her job to keep her busy, and someone needed to be there for daadi and the rest of the family. but abhi could not stand the thought of going that long without her, not when they'd only just really found each other, not after they'd already wasted so much time. so he had pragya join him on tour and she really didn't enjoy being a groupie but for abhi she would stand it. and there was the upside of seeing europe and eating the fascinating food she'd read about in books forever. but when they were passing though hungary she found that the soups and stews didn't seem to agree with her, and abhi started to worry about her health, and he wouldn't calm down until she saw a doctor. the doctor asked her the most basic questions and pragya realized something she should've noticed weeks ago, but between the travel and the excitement and the simple satisfaction of being with abhi...she hadn't. and then she thought she couldn't possibly tell abhi yet, because he would get distracted, and knowing him he'd think she'd need to be coddled, and maybe he'd even send her back to india and at this point that really wasn't what she wanted. so she didn't tell him, and made excuses for her mood swings and occasional ultis, and distracted him with different positions when he started noticing that her stomach was firmer and her breasts were softer. by the time the tour ended abhi was making half-worried jokes about how his fuggy had ballooned due to all the feasting in europe, but still pragya didn't tell him until they'd been back in mumbai for a week and the slight baby bump couldn't be hidden because she was back to wearing form-fitting anarkalis instead of loose sundresses. and abhi was shocked and surprised and amazed but after half a second of genuine reaction he got up to his nautanki as usual and proclaimed that he'd known all along and that he'd never forgive her for trying to hide it from him. two years later their toddler started demonstrating a strong and vocal preference for blended vegetable soups and it made no sense to pragya but abhi took it as sign that their daughter would be a world traveller, and approved. by the time ananya was old enough to travel he had a different opinion, but that's a different story.
