Sitting on the high stool and sipping on his single malt, he was noticing her for a long time now. She had a thin frame and a delicate body, and judging by the salt and pepper hair that fell to her shoulder, he guessed that she would be around fifty something. She wore a deep blue cotton saree that draped around her figure in the most elegant way highlighting the fact that she still had maintained quite an admirable figure beneath the fabric. The sleeves of her vermillion blouse came till her elbow - again a pastel shade with no print or embroidery on it. She looked simple yet distinguished and oddly attractive in a certain way Abhi couldn't explain.

He was on a cruise vacation, happily spending some time away from the mainland and all that fame and galore that followed him around. Here he was just Abhi, not Abhi the Rockstar of yester years, or Abhi, the much celebrated music director or the multi millionaire entrepreneur or even the father of the coveted Rockstar of the country Rockstar Aarav. Hence sitting here, just Abhi' was allowed to do a lot of things that the celebrity just couldn't, even if he had the whim.

After debating for half-an-hour, he decided to try his luck, well he was single and she was attractive, then why not check if there was a spark between them tonight? He slowly slid out of his stool and walked towards her in a relaxed pace. When he reached her table, she looked up and smiled in surprise.

"Hello Ma'am, forgive me for interrupting your evening, but would you mind if I join you on this table?" he flashed his signature smile, it had always worked for him, since his younger days. She looked at him for a while and nodded in understanding and gestured him to sit with her.

"You know, I understand, at this age, sitting in the high stool near the bar can really give one a bad backache for the rest of the night"

Abhi was taken aback, backache? That is what she thought he had come to her for? It was a blow to his Rockstar pride, but decided to try again.
"Although I am humbled by your concern Ma'am, but a backache is not my worry, it's just that, I don't like drinking alone, and always enjoy company over drinks - and if the company is in the form of a pretty woman, well what more can one ask for?" he finished with a smirk. This time the lady seemed to take his hint. She flashed an almost mischievous smile at him, was it that or was he over thinking? And leaned closer to the table.

"Hi Mr. Rockstar, I am Pragya"

"You recognized me?" he sighed, "I was hoping to maintain a low-key tonight!" he smiled a little.

"Once a Rockstar, always a Rockstar! There is simply no running away from it isn't it? But honestly, I prefer your son's music more" she smiled.

Abhi smiled, this was an intelligent woman, she wounded his ego and made him proud at the same time, if she was just physically attractive so far, her twisted mind allured Abhi more.

"So, Ms. Pragya, would you like to join me for a drink?"

"Sure, one Sangria please" she replied promptly

Abhi motioned for the bar tender to serve them, and then he turned to her.

"You seem to know quite a bit about me, will you enlighten me about you?"

"Well, I am a post doctoral researcher in psychology, and a visiting faculty at Harvard. I have written a few books in para-psychology and I am also a part of the education ministry" she replied. Abhi smiled, so this explained her intelligent eyes and words, but in spite of having such a diametrically opposite profile, there was something inviting about her.

"So, you're alone here, on this cruise?" he asked.

"Not anymore" she replied quietly and flashed a sincere smile, but before Abhi could probe further, she continued, "You know Rockstar, I have noticed you gaping at me for the last half an hour, are you usually this slow in making a move, or is it old age catching up?" she smirked and Abhi was caught off guard for a second.

"Well, I was weighing my options, and also trying to understand if there is a husband figure lurking nearby" he replied after a pause.

"He is doing a bunk tonight", she replied quietly and Abhi sighed. What kind of an idiot would leave such a magnetic woman for others?

"Well Ms. Pragya, would you like to share this evening with me, over a few more glasses of wine, dinner and more?" he asked with baited breath.

"Why do you want to spend the time with me Mr. Rockstar?" she asked softly. Truth was that he didn't have an answer, he had only met her, she claimed to have an infidel husband and she was so different from him, yet there was this unavoidable spark.

"Because,...because I can feel a connect with you, and I find you insanely attractive" he replied truthfully.

She looked at him for a long second, and asked, "What about your wife? Isn't she waiting for you somewhere?"

"No, I don't have a wife"

"Would you still have asked me out, if you had a wife, and yet you felt such a connect with me?" she asked me uncertainly, and it stumped him. Why was she playing situations here? But he considered the situation all the same.

"No, I wouldn't have approached you if I had a loving wife" he mumbled, internally smacking himself for his blatant honesty - she would refuse him now for sure.

"Well in that case I think I wouldn't mind spending the evening with you Mr. Rockstar" she replied with a small smile.

Abhi was dumbfounded. Luck must really be on his side tonight he thought, as he rose from his seat and held out his hand for her to take - he was going to take her to the deck for a quiet candlelight dinner.

As she held his hand and walked away with him, she left a small text message to her sister in Mumbai.

"Hey Bulbul, guess it's my lucky day, even though his Alzheimer's erased my memories from his life, but today on our 30^th anniversary we are spending time together on a cruise and sharing a candle light dinner with wine - what more can I ask for? Love, Di"
