Trousseau
"Abhi, you go get changed too." Pragya said coming out of the washroom yawning. "Yeah!" He said and kept his guitar aside. She took off her accessories and put them on the dresser and then sat on the bed. She was really exhausted from all the functions and running around. Her body was aching and she was stiff from carrying the heavy lehanga so long. Tiredness took over and she had dozed off, still sitting by the time Abhi came back.
"Prags.. Aye chashmish!" She heard him calling. She could feel him poking her arms too. She opened her eyes slightly and lay down on the bed. Pulling the duvet till her shoulders, she cocooned herself and spoke sleepily, "what is it Abhi? Let me sleep. Im exhausted." Abhi looked at her in confusion not knowing what to do. "Pragya.. Listen.." He tried again. "Abhi please. We'll talk tomorrow!" She slurred. "But prags, i cant sleep here. You know i sleep on the right side of the bed. You shift to the other side. I need to sleep.. Im exhausted too." He said irritated now. "Abhi stop being a baby and sleep." She said sounding a bit annoyed too. "Pragya, shift now!" He said but there was no response from her. When he tried waking her up, she snuggled further into the bed and pulled the duvet over her face. "Fine!" Abhi said and helplessly slept next to her on the other side of the bed.
The next morning, Pragya woke up feeling hot and suffocated. She was uncomfortable and the alarm was buzzing continuously. "Who turned the AC off!" She thought to herself. The noise and the heat were making her go crazy and she tried to get up to shut the alarm off. That's when she realised the weight over her body. She could feel warm breathe on her neck. She opened her eyes slightly and noticed Abhi sleeping next to her, pinning her down with half his body. His arms and legs were thrown over her and his head next to her face. She blushed as she saw the position they were sleeping in. That's when the alarm went off again after a snooze and a sharp pain hit her head.
She tried to reach the alarm but was unable to. She tried to move in order to reach it when he snuggled further and puller her closer to himself. Her head was throbbing now and she needed to shut the noise. She tried to push him away but he was too strong. "Abhi move!" She tried pushing him away. He groaned in his sleep but did not move. "Get off me, Abhi!" She tried again yet, nothing happened. "Move, hulk! I cant breathe." She yelled in his ears and Abhi finally woke up. He lazily turned around and loosened his grip over her. Pragya immediately reached for the alarm and switched it off. She then held her head head which seemed to be spinning due to the suffocation.
She got off the bed after she regained her breath and tied her hair up. "You almost killed me, Abhi!" She glared at him. "Not my fault. I told you i sleep on the right side of the bed. I can't sleep on the other." He said, now leaning on his arm sideways, facing her. "You are such a baby!" She mocked him. "I'm not a baby! I'm the rockstar!" He whined. Pragya walked towards him and in a swift move, ruffled his hair and quickly got away.
"Prags! You know i hate anyone messing with my hair!" He growled and sat up. "You so look like a baby!" Pragya teased him from the end of the room. Abhi instantly got up to catch her, but she escaped. He ran after her and she got on the bed. When Abhi tried to reach for her, she picked up his favourite pillow and threw it at him. "Thats my favourite pillow! Wait till i catch you!" He said reaching for her again.
She got off the bed and he was on the other side. She picked up the glass of water and held it in defence. When he tried to catch her, she threw the water over him and drenched his tee. "You are so dead Chashmish!" He said with a smirk and took off his tee. She tried to run again but he managed to get hold of her wrist. His leg slipped due to the water on the floor and he landed on the bed pulling her over himself. She closed her eyes and hugged him tight. He wrapped his arms aroung her waist in an attempt to protect her. And that's how Aaliya saw them when she came to call them on behalf of dadi.
The door opened slightly when she knocked. So thinking they must be up, she opened it fully and walked in and thats when she saw Abhi and Pagya lying on the bed, lost in each other. "Oops! Sorry! The door wasn't shut!" She said turning around with her hands on her eyes. Abhi and Pragya immediately got off each other. She looked here and there while Abhi quickly put on his tee again. Not knowing what to do, Pragya hurried off to the washroom.
"What is it chotti? Turn around!" Abhi said, blushing a bit. "Woh bhai, I actually came to tell you that dadi has called you and Pragya di, i mean Bhabhi downstairs. The breakfast is ready. I didn't mean to..." She said but Abhi cut her off. "Yeah chotti. We'll just freshen up and come." Aaliya giggled and walked out. Abhi slapped his head, embarrassed at what had happened and picked up his favourite pillow from the ground. He looked at it and smiled, remembering what had just happened.
As Abhi and Pragya headed downstairs for breakfast, they saw that the whole family was already there. Purab and Bulbul were laughing and so were dadi and indu dasi. Since it was already late last night, Purab and Bulbul had decided to stay back. They were the ones mainly doing all the running around and must have been exhausted. It was not easy to handle a high profile marriage. There wasn't a lot of family on either sides. But, who's who of the industry was present. He was the nations pride, after all.
When Aaliya saw the two of them walk down, she suppressed her smile and stopped talking. She then gestured with her eyes towards them and everyone turned around. Dadi got up from her seat, a big smile on her face. As they reached the bottom of the flight, Pragya lightly nudged him, gesturing him to bow down to dadi. He just looked at her and winked. She knew him well. He loved and respected dadi more than anyone, but he didn't believe in these customs. However, she did and today was the first day of her married life. She wanted dadi's blessing to have a happy life. She needed it because she didn't want anything going wrong anywhere this time.
Abhi, being abhi, straight went to dadi and hugged her. "Good morning beautiful!" He said smiling at her. Pragya knew he would do this. She shook her head with a I-SO-KNEW-IT expression and bowed towards dadi. "Oye Abhi, bow down, take my blessings!" Dadi called for him. "Off oh budhiya.. You and you granddaughter are just so old school. Who gets this done forcefully!" He said acting annoyed. He then bowed down along with Pragya. Dadi blessed them both and so did Indu daasi while The rest of the family smiled at this cute exchange.

"Abhiii" a sream from the closet made him shiver. He immediately pulled down his headphones and put his guitar aside. He had been working on his new scratch while Pragya had wanted to unpack. It was hardly 5 minutes since she had gone in. Abhi immediately rushed in to check what happened.
As he entered , he saw her standing with her hands on her hips, glaring at him. "Where am I supposed to put my stuff?" She asked. "I had asked Robin to free a slot for you. Hasn't he done that?" Abhi asked scratching his temple. "A slot?" Pragya asked, sarcastically. "How the hell am I supposed to fit four suitcases of stuff in one slot!" She asked, agitated. "How was I supposed to know you were coming with a truckload of goods" Abhi smirked. "Abhi I'm in no mood to be funny here. You have four cupboard of clothes!" She said spreading her hands and pointing them out. "I just need one." She said opening a cupboard. A few clothes tumbled and landed on her feet. She looked up at him and he shrugged. "Why are your clothes just thrown into your cupboard? Anyway just move them to some other cupboard. I'm taking this one." She said. "Yeah, I'll ask Robin to do that later." He said walking out.
"Not later, Abhi. Now! I want to unpack. It's really irritating to find things in the bags." She followed him. "But Robin must be making dinner now." Abhi argued. "Well then, do it yourself lazy bones." Pragya replied. "Hey! You're talking to the rockstar!" He said pointing towards himself. "Well, right now, I'm talking to my husband!" She smirked. "And i need that cupboard cleared." She said going back in. Abhi followed her. She opened the rest of the cupboards and saw them in a similar state. "Let's do it together. I'll help you!" She finally said looking at his sulking, babylike face. He immediately smiled and agreed. "God! He looks so cute when he does that. He's such a baby!" She thought to herself.
After a couple of hours and a lot of struggle, they had managed to sort out Abhi's clothes and fold them. "Abhi, you have so many clothes that I haven't seen you wear for ages! Why do you still have them? No wonder you needed 4 cupboards to fit your stuff." Pragya said at the end. "I'll pile them up differently and we can just maybe donate them to an orphanage or something. Most of them look so new and the kids will be happy to get a celebrity's clothes." She said. Abhi agreed to her suggestion and they began sifting through the pile.
"Prags, that's my favourite colour. Don't dump it."
"Chashmish, that's my lucky tee. I wore it for my first concert."
"Pragya thats the softest tee i have. I love sleeping in it."
He commented on each piece of cloth she picked. Irritated with that she finally gave up. "Listen, rockstar. I don't like mess in my house okay. Just pick up the clothes you're gonna use and put them in the cupboard. The others will be discarded. And if i see you not wearing a particular stuff at least once during the month, I'm gonna dump them." She said.
"I don't know why I decided to get married to you! I should've known you can boss me around too well. You do enough bossing as a friend. Being in this house, I should've known you'll have an issue with everything about me. Atleast, someone else wouldn't have eaten my head so much on the first day of marriage." He said grumpily. "Too late, husband! You have to put up with me for life!" She winked at him and walked out. Abhi smiled to himself as the words Husband and For Life played again and agian in his head and he felt like he was on top of the world already.
