I don't think it's easy to declare that the soap favours Abhi. To me, Abhi is more relatable than Pragya because his actions seem to have better reasons than hers. So I get him better than Pragya.

Obviously the show doesn't favor either otherwise Pragya would have been at least 5 months pregnant by now.

TRP audiences like to see women go through trials. For most viewers - not critically thinking ones, arguably not younger ones, but those that turn to soaps for entertainment and escape - a strong woman is only appealing if she has a strong injustice to fight for. A woman fighting for herself is not as appealing as a woman enduring loads of trouble on behalf of others. TRP audiences are mostly female but they are also mostly subject to a huge degree of internalized misogyny. They don't want to see other women win easily or have uncomplicated happiness. There is something that is made to seem "unsatisfying" about such stories and they don't have sufficient "drama" to make successful soaps.

And Abhi does not try or the soap makes try to portray him as a completely good/nice guy. Personally that is what I like about him. He behaves like a normal person with flaws.

But Pragya is the one who is shown to never do any wrong. Even if she does something wrong (like hurting Daadi now), it has a some bigger motive that is the good of everyone. This is what irritates me that she is so selfless.. un-relatable. But I guess society as a whole wants to see a bahu like that, because she gets all the brownie points in the end. The soap is not to explore how a character can have shades of good and bad (for example Abhi).

I came back because I was hanging out with my mom on Mother's Day and she kept telling me what happened on the show and I got excited thinking Abhi was going to have man tears and such. I'm trying to manage my expectations though. 😆
