Chapter 1

Love brooding Abhi!! He's thinking of not thinking about Aliyah...him wanting coffee and being surprised that someone's ordering one (Duhh Abhi it's a coffee shop...other people drink the same style coffee you know!!)

And then into of the cute girl!! Loving her outfit..I can soo picture it and someone who would definitely pull him in...And wanting to be like her..how he put it ..Free!!! obviously there is some baggage there!!

Seeing her at the park and those playing kids who remind him of his younger self and Aliyah(who he is still trying not to think about! I want to know what she's done!!!!) and her saving the girl...

And third time's a charm...meeting her again buying flowers(orchids...LOVE!!!) and then running after her!!! Kya baat hai rockstar!

I'm loving the confident Pragya!!! air quoting, telling him roses are cliche.Him getting shy about her thinking of him as a stalker and trying to explain himself...rambling...finding her cute!!!

Chapter 03 - Dealing with the aftermaths

"Okay so now tell me when are you going to meet her again?"

Indu Daasi asked Abhi as she began to arrange the roses in a vase with great care while sitting at a small round table.

They were in the kitchen and Abhi was sitting on the kitchen counter sipping coffee.

He has already told her all about the crazy girl, Pragya that he kept seeing by chance.

"What? Meet her again? I don't know..."

Abhi shrugged his shoulders.

"What do you mean? Didn't you get her number, address anything!?"

Abhi smiled seeing Indu Daasi looking aghast.

"No! Why would I?"

Indu Daasi came and smacked him lightly on the head.

"For the last 15 years all I hear is how you get every random girl's number but when finally you meet the right girl you are asking me why would you get her number?"

Abhi laughed hearing her accusations, and decided to tease her more by not revealing her about giving his number to Pragya.

"Right girl? Oh Daasi hold your horses right there! It's nothing like that! She is a nice girl. I like her. But that's it. Nothing more! I don't even know whether I will ever see her again..."

He really didn't know whether he would ever see her again now did he? What if she never calls?

Indu Daasi answered his unspoken question for him.

"Well, if you two are meant to be destiny will find a way to bring you two together. And if she is in your fate..."

"If she is in my fate nothing can separate us right?"

Abhi cut her off mid sentence sarcastically.

"Abhi!"

"Oh come on Daasi! Really it's nothing... It was just weird how I kept seeing her and how she was saying exactly what was on my mind every time I saw her. And after all that when I met her it was like one hell of a crazy meeting! That's why I told you everything about her... Really nothing more!"

"Abhi all these are signs! Signs that she is special!"

"Daasi Daasi Daasi! You and your romance! You know I don't believe in all this! Fate, destiny, luck all these are just things man has created just for the heck of it! I don't believe in all that and you know that! And you know why! All my life I have seen people believing in all this and at the end what did they get!? Nothing!"

Daasi crossed her arms and stared at him for a minute.

Abhi mentally kicked himself for letting his buried down hurt appear every once in a while, out of nowhere. He knew Daasi understood his past dilemmas. But she doesn't know his recent dilemmas... Maybe he could talk to her. Maybe he will feel better. Nah! He cannot let anyone know. Especially, not anyone so closed to his Daadi.

"Okay... I will let it go for now. But I am not going to forget this. So Abhi tell me how is Di?"

Conversation moved on to general things much to Abhi's relief.

Abhi started to pace back and forth in his room.

He hated lying to Daadi. He hated giving fake promises to her.

He hated Aaliyah for putting him in such a position where he has no other option than lying to Daadi for her own well-being.

More than anything he hated himself for giving another person the power to affect his life. Again!

How could he?! When did he become so careless?! He ought to have learnt his lesson years ago. You should never let someone else have so much power over yourself. Because when you do, you are the one who is going to be so devastated when they betray you. When they leave you behind, all alone... to find their own happiness, you are the one who has to tend to your wounds.

Wounds that never heal.

Abhi sometimes wished he could share his problems with someone... Anyone... But no! He doesn't trust anyone anymore. Only person he trusts now, his Daadi should never get to know this truth! This would devastate her.

Abhi ran his hand through his hair in frustration.

Suddenly feeling suffocated he wanted nothing but to flee his own room. His own home.

He opened his eyes to see the blue sky.

He felt calm now.

Going by the atmosphere he must have been lying on this bench for hours now. But it seems to be only few minutes since he got here.

The park always calmed him down. Sitting in a corner away from the world's prying eyes observing other people for a change or just lying here looking at the blue sky helped him to clear his thoughts.

He slowly sat in the bench. The dusk was nearing.

Few children were playing few feet away from him. With no care in the world, so unaware of the cruel future that awaits them.

An old man was sitting in a bench, talking to a girl. He must have already dealt with his share of ups and downs in life, Abhi pondered.

Abhi turned his gaze to the girl talking to the man, wearing a short white dress teamed with a short denim coat.

Belongs to the same generation! So what about her? What about her life? Any challenges? Secrets? Betrayals? Can she relate to what I am going through?

Suddenly a flash of colours broke his chain of thoughts.

His wandering eyes stopped and took in the picture.

The girl was wearing multicoloured bangles...

She turned around and met his eye.

Multi colour bangles, Huge Chashma, cute nose, messy hair.

Pragya!

When their eyes met recognition flashed and she nodded and waved at him.

He waved back and watched her coming over to where he sat.

"Should I call the police?"

"Huh? What?"

Abhi asked perplexed.

"Cafe, park, boutique and then again park!"

She finger counted as she came to stand in front of him.

"You know I am wondering whether you are really stalking me!"

"No! I am just..." Abhi started and stopped and narrowed his eyes.

"Wait! I could say the same to you! These days whenever I am out I somehow end up running into you!"

Pragya looked amused for a second.

"Oh! Really!"

Oh, here comes that laugh! Abhi found himself smiling hearing her laugh.

"Very good Rockstar! You caught me! So do you mind if I join you?"

Pragya asked pointing at the spot beside him.

"Oh! No! Please!"

Abhi moved to the side letting her sit.

She sat and turned to him smiling.

"Hi!"

He turned to her and repeated her.

"Hi!"

"So this is what Rockstars do huh?"

"What?"

"Going to parks every weekday... Lying here leisurely! But let me tell you, so boring huh! Here I was thinking you celebrities must be partying hard every day having a blast..."

Having a blast! Huh! You have no idea! Abhi groaned internally as she went on and on.

"Well, you are here too!"

He pointed out.

"Well, yeah! But I am working you see..."

"Working? Here? Like this? Really? What do you do?"

Pragya pretended to think hard.

"Well, I can't tell you!"

She whispered in a tone laced with cheekiness.

"What! Why? Are you on a secret mission or something like that?"

Abhi laughed at his own lame joke.

"Well, Rockstar you never know!"

Pragya raised her eyebrows at him making him laugh harder imagining petite Pragya as some badass secret agent.

"Oh Really!"

"Yeah! You don't believe me? You want to see my gun? You want to..."

Pragya was interrupted by the vibrating sound of his phone indicating an incoming call.

She paused and pointed at his phone and grudgingly Abhi answered knowing its Purab.

"Hello Bhai! Bhai are you okay?"

He could hear the panic in Purab's voice.

"Yeah! Yeah! Relax! All okay!"

"What is this Bhai? This is not done! Where are you? You missed the meeting with Mr.Lalwani! Why weren't you picking up your phone? I have been calling you for hours now! Why didn't you tell anyone where you were going?"

"Relax! Relax! I am okay! And I will see you soon! Okay! Got to go! Bye!"

He quickly ended the call and looked up to find Pragya shamelessly eavesdropping on his conversation with an amused look.

He shrugged his shoulders pointedly.

"What?"

"Was that your girlfriend on the phone?"

"What?"

"Arrey... Was that supermodel Tannu on the phone? I once read in a gossip column that she is a tantrum queen... And could be quite demanding!"

"What?"

Abhi shook his head and asked laughing.

"UFF! Why do you keep saying what what! Answer the question na!"

"Okay! First of all you are not supposed to eavesdrop on other's conversations! And second of all, even if you do eavesdrop, you are not supposed to let other people know you were eavesdropping! You know, be more subtle about it? And No that was not Tannu on the phone. That was my manager who is also my cousin, Purab on the phone! And FYI he is nothing less than a nagging girlfriend! And no Tannu is not my girlfriend anymore! We broke up last year! And yes! She is a tantrum queen! And I have no idea why I am telling you all this! Phew!"

Pragya stared at him for a second and burst out laughing. And after a second he joined her.

"By the way Rockstar you looked so cute when you did that!"

She imitated the way he answered the question by bending her head side to side.

"Says the girl who didn't call me even after I gave her my number!"

"Oops! Sorry about that Rockstar! You see, I thought you are going out with the supermodel... And when you gave me your number I thought..."

"What? That I am a player?"

"No! I mean yeah... But in my defence that's what the gossip column says!"

"Partying! Having a blast! Going out with supermodels! Giving out my phone number to every random girl I meet... WOW! You are having such high standards about my life!"

"Well! Blame it on the gossip column! That's what they say!"

"Well, that's what they used to say is more correct, right? I don't do any of that anymore. I have changed! Everything has changed... Nothing is the same anymore..."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Abhi regretted saying them. What started as a playful response has ended up bringing the bitterness buried deep within him to the surface. That too in front of an almost stranger.

He just wished Pragya would let it go, but going by the silence on her side it was obvious she has noticed his change. He sighed internally. So much so for trying to escape it all.

"Ahem... Look it's getting quite late... I should probably go meet my nagging girlfriend!"

Abhi tried to lighten the situation.

"Yeah! Yeah! We should... Err... We should get going!" Pragya replied as she got up from the bench.

Abhi did the same when Pragya suddenly turned back to him.

"You know what Abhi! Before I leave I just want to say maybe it happened for a reason."

Abhi blinked trying to make sense out of what she said.

"Huh?"

"You said nothing is the same anymore. I don't know what you were talking about. But you see, change is inevitable. You like it or not things are going to change. They have always changed, and will change in the future to. It's how you deal with the change that matters. Things might be not going too well for you right now but who knows there could be a silver lining to all this... So you know just... Just hang in there! You might not be the only one you know..."

Abhi let go of the breath he has been holding all the while she spoke. There was something in her eyes, maybe the warmth and the tenderness he saw in them, that made him want to believe what she said. That maybe all is not lost yet. Maybe... Maybe there is a silver lining to all this.

"Thank you Pragya!"

She smiled one last time before she turned to leave.
