Drabble: Yaadein

-Abhi takes pheras with Pragya on Lohri more because Tannu demanded him to take them with her. The crowd cheers for them when they go around the fire, especially the Daadi/Daasis.

-After the celebrations, Abhi takes Daadi to her room and tucks her in her bed. Pragys is seeing off her folks who had also joined them for the party.

-Abhi feels sleepy too and when he goes to his room he is shocked to see Daasis and housekeepers decorating his bed with flowers.

-"If you guys took pheras and re-married today, it's our duty to fulfill the rest of the customs" announces Indu Daasi. "There is no need for all this" complains Abhi. He plans to take all that off as soon as Daasis leave.

-When Daasis are about to leave the room, Pragya is at the door. She is shocked to see the flowers too.

-"Us raat ki yaadein tazaa hoyengi aaj (the memories of that night will fresh up today)" winks Indu Daasi as she leaves with Swarni Daasi, pushing Pragya inside the room and pulling the door shut.

-There is an awkward moment between Abhi and Pragya as their eyes meet. Abhi can't stand the pain in her eyes.

-Pragya does not want to shed a drop of tear for she had accepted the fate of that night, but she can't help it. It was the night in which her heart was cut into pieces without warning.

-Abhi knows her tears are flowing even without looking at her.

-Pragya runs into the balcony not wanting to cry in front of him.

-Abhi just wants to run away from the room, from Pragya. But he can't.

-He was drunk that night, but the alcohol wasn't enough to fade his memories. He remembers what he did exactly. He had abandoned her. She had followed him, and she had known he not just abandoned him but betrayed her.

-He had his justifications at that time, but nothing stands now. He was wrong and he knows it. But he also knows, he can't make it right.

-He walks to the balcony to find her sitting in a corner with her head hidden in her hands.

-"I know my sorry will not make anything better. But I just want to tell you, I regret it the most in my life" he says as he walks back into the room.
