Apparently, there's some supernatural stuff going on? Okay, can't resist...this is incomplete but wanted to get a few lines going...
The old man with the smelly kerosene lantern had disappeared again.
There was a dim lamp that flickered in the middle of the musty room, causing unnerving shadowy figures that made Rockstar Abhi want to curl up foetally in a corner and suck his thumb like he did when he was a toddler.
Instead, Abhi bravely called out his mortal enemy's name. Only it wasn't his voice; it sounded more like the high pitched squeal from one of his twelve year old female fans.
"Pragya! Hey...You! Chashmish!"
There was no answer. Abhi decided to recite, for the first time in his adult life, whatever he could from the Hanuman Chalisa.
Abhi was surprised he still knew it at all...his Daadi would ask him say it with her when he was a child but he had given up any belief in God a long time ago...
"But of course you're a super busy rockstar and you don't have time to remember your childhood days...see? There is no time like the present to revisit those memories," Abhi mumbled, trying to assure himself that he was not actually turning to God. He jogged his memory for the holy words.
He had heard Daadi recite the forty verses dedicated to Lord Hanuman countless times. Luckily, the most relevant verse pertaining to his present circumstance kept popping into his head and Abhi repeated the words over and over, his voice getting louder and louder.
"Bhoot Pisach, Nikat Nahi Aave, Mahavir Jab Naam Sunave" (Ghosts and evil spirits can't come near me when they hear Lord Hanuman's name).
He felt a tap on his shoulder and slowly turned around...and gasped. It was the weird old man standing very close to him, holding up his lantern... only this time the fellow was smiling the creepiest, gummiest, drooliest smile Mr. Rockstar had ever seen.
Abhi's cell phone clattered to the floor, followed by the cell phone owner himself...the last thing Abhi remembered before passing out was the old fellow bending over him.
