I liked Shabbir in Kayamath. His character was very intense, and he did a fantastic job there. And, he's one of the reasons I'm watching KB.
In KB, Abhi is supposed to be cool and shallow for outsiders while having a heart of gold when it comes to his grandma and best friend. But, by giving the character a light, comic touch, and shabby look to be considered as cool, one can't figure how seriously to take him; to me, he's more of a side character. I guess its the in-thing nowadays - the more messier and weird one looks, the more he/she gets famous for there's no dearth of gullible people in the world.
I feel this whole segment of a his rockstar character and the likes of Bulbul going ga ga over him is completely over the top and doesn't gel with the show. It's like watching another show altogether.
For that matter, I thought Purab was a side character, but he seems more real, cool & endearing . He is a mixed bag with decent looks, right amount of arrogance & hotheadedness, as well as honest, good-hearted & well-grounded. I think if they had to give Abhi more intensity n his character, he would've been more cool and appealing. But, I'm ready to wait and see how his character pans out, though I'm bored of his flippancy.
On the side, I can never figure why everyone calls Bulbul beautiful and Pragya not. To my eye, both girls are very pretty but one isn't prettier than the other - If it's only because Pragya wears glasses but then she looks more cool & chic in them.
