Archie is Architha, and she was brought in by Ranbir to make Kanya jealous.

The idea was given by Ranbir's brother - Adithya. Since Ranbir feels jealous when he see Kanya with her childhood friend Chunnu, Adithya asked Rannu to bring in a girl so that Kanya will be jealous.

So Rannu brought in Architha introducing her as his childhood friend and somehow managed to get Kanya's father's permission to keep her with them at Godbole house. But we still don't know what's her status is. I mean, it sems like Architha is paid by Ranbir to act as his childhood friend.
