Vidi had to try hard to contain the chuckle that rose up her throat every time she thought of the irony of it! You would too if you were a rebel and an anarchist in heart and spirit and had a nickname like Vidi. I mean, imagine being dubbed ' law' when you were an outlaw, at least when it came to convention and tradition and all that shit!
"Vidi, got the tickets for Interstellar but we gotta scram...that Buddha khadoos is on the way!"
Deepali's cheery tone cut through Vidi's reverie.
"Deepali, agar aap logon ko class cut karna hai toh Karo..par unko kyun Buddha aur khadoos Bol rahe ho?"
Shobha slyly winked at Deepali while she asked Nidi sotto voce.
"Unko...kinko, Nidhi?"
"Dr Ashutosh ko!"
Nidhi glared at her.
Deepali and Vidi exchanged high fives as Deepali mocked,
"Maine Dr Ashutosh Ka naam Bhi nahi liya...agar Buddha aur khadoos jaise shabd sunke tumhe tumhari 'unke' yaad aati hai toh issme meri kya galti hai?"
Nidhi was red faced while the terrible trio laughed at her. Actually their handle was 'terrific trio' but Nidhi preferred to call them terrible trio.
They were the ones who had broken the truth about her and Dr Ashutosh to the entire college. Of course, they had conveniently edited that part about their being caught out while spying. And she couldn't tell people that without revealing unsavoury details like her Dadi Bua calling her husband names in the middles of the road!
"It's okay, Nidhi! Buddha ho ya khadoos, woh tere pati hain! Aur tumhe apni patni dharam nibhana Padega!"
Vidi pronounced in her solemnest of tones before the terrific trio began giggling like mad.
Just then, Deepali's phone buzzed.
"Haan...haan Bol...accha ...fabulous!"
Deepali ended the call and shouted at the other two.
"Girls, chalo jaldi chalo!"
"Kya re Deepz, Interstellar hi to hai..hum yeh film teesre baar dekhne wale hain...ab agar abhi tak samaj mei nahi aaya toh ab kya khak samaj mei aayegaa?"
Vidi spoke in a part scornful and a part wistful tone. It still hurt her that she had not been able to ace the Interstellar test that Dr Harsh had set her, if only she had, then he would have, and then she would have...!
"Vidi, iss baar Yudi Bhi hamare saath honge Na?"
Shobha's eyes widened.
"Kya? Yudi Matlab Captain?"
Vidi gave her an irritated glance.
"Nahi! Yudi Matlab yudhishtr...Panachali ke Paanch patiyon mei se shresht!"
Deepali slapped Vidi on the back and the duo started laughing. Poor Shobha glared at them in frustration and wished she could resign from the terrific trio club. But the club membership gave her a special status in college and she could not do without that! Besides,even if they were pains at times, they were good girls at heart.
"Deepali, waise Yudi ke saath hone Ka kya fayda hai? I mean I know you have a crush on him and all but Interstellar aur unka kya sambhandh?"
Deepali patiently explained to Shobha.
"Sho, Yudi kya karta hai? Flight chalata hai, hai Na?"
Sho nodded politely while Vidi eagerly listened. Was this going to help her find the cheat codes to acing that game called Dr Harsh?
"Matlab woh hamesha aasmaan mei Udta rehta hai!"
"toh?"
"toh interstellar space ke bare mei hain nai?"
Vidi snorted now.
"Deepz, Interatellar is about space. Itna toh mujhe samaj aaya. And pilots fly in the skies, they don't travel into space?"
"Ab sky and space jaise padosi hai Na? Toh Yudi ko space ke bare mein pata hoga!"
Deepali insisted stubbornly.
"Deepz, agar Yudi ne meri madad kardi Na Interstellar Ko samaj ne mein, toh phir Yudi Teri aur Dr Harsh meri. Main tumhari raaste se hat jaoongi!"
Deepali and Vidi shook hands over the deal with Shobha as witness!
Nidhi shook her head in disbelief! How could these girls be so silly! Imagine shaking hands over some random men they had no hope in hell of a chance with.
As the terrible trio left the classroom in a hurry, Nidhi hummed to herself
"Mera Pati mera Devta hai!"
Dr Ashutosh choked on the coffee he was sipping at the canteen!
He rose hurriedly from his seat.
"Mujhe Jaana hoga! Meri Nidhi mujhe yaad Kar rahi hai!"
Ab kya hoga terrific trio Ka? Kya Yudi Vidi ki madad karega? Kya Dr Harsh Vidi ko apnalenge? Kya Yudi Vidi ko chahne lagega? Kya woh Vidi ur Deepz ke beech dooriyaan paida karega? Aur inn Sab mei Shobha ka kya part hoga? Jaanne ke liye Agle Hafte tak. Intezaar kijiye!
