TOI: Sharad-Keerti expecting 1st child

Television couple Sharad Kelkar and Keerti Gaekwad, who tied the knot in June 2005, are expecting their first child. The baby is due in January end, next year. While Sharad has moved on to movies " his last being Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela " Keerti took a break from work after featuring in Chhoti Bahu in 2011. Says father-to-be, "I will become father for the first time. The baby has started kicking and the feeling is overwhelming."

How did he deal with Keerti's pregnancy mood swings? "Touch wood, Keerti hasn't been too tough to handle (laughs). But then, dealing with it is the only way for any father to compensate as it is the mother who endures the pain," says he. Ask him why they waited for eight years to have a baby and Sharad replies, "We didn't want an early baby. Also, we were busy with our respective projects. I think this was the right time to have a baby."

Sharad says son or daughter, they just want a healthy baby. He says, "I am preparing myself for some sleepless nights. We haven't thought of a name as there is a lot of confusion. Naming the baby will be an impromptu thing."

About his work life, the actor, who has been busy dubbing for a Marathi movie with Riteish Deshmukh, says he is looking at seasonal shows on television. "Keerti is planning to return to acting a few months after delivery. I would want to spend some time with my wife after her delivery, so I am not planning to take up daily soaps as they are very demanding," he says.
