Title: Kuch to log kahenge - A Splendid Anticipation Of Return!!3/29/13
A beautiful rendition and adaptation of a Pakistani-based drama, "Dhoop Kinare", Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (KTLK) had been presented before us on Oct 3rd 2011 and ended on a beautiful note on 28th March 2013. Several shows had come and gone past us but never has a show been embedded in our hearts as marvellously as how the characters of Dr Ashutosh and Dr Nidhi have transformed over the episodes, captivating and mesmerizing the hearts of tonnes, with a wide range of diverse age-group fans all over India.
This show may have dealt with several themes which anyone could easily relate to. It was no all-medical based show. It dealt with the ups and downs of a tumultuous relationship of an aged doctor, Dr Ashutosh who had not only faced loneliness in the many realms of his life but also given up on any prospects of love in his life. The only person whom he felt close were his Baba and Dr Mallika, his closest pal cum colleague at Kotnis Hospital, where little did he realize that he would meet the love of his life, Dr Nidhi - the bubbly, vivacious, the least serious of all interns he could possibly have met in his life. Their first meeting of their cars bumping into each other surely gave no clue whatsoever of the future that they could have held thus far.
Their next meeting led to the meet-up at Kotnis Hospital where Dr Nidhi had hid from Dr Ashutosh. The funny encounters made me often wonder how Dr Nidhi will ever escape from him all the time. Sooner enough, they met eye to eye with the first child operation that she did. This made Dr Ashutosh realize that no matter how amateur she may seem, she had the power to heal a patient with as much compassion as a doctor should possess. The life of Dr Nidhi began gaining its importance as she began to take her job as an intern more seriously as she earned more respect from her little mischievous patients who looked forward to her visits and never had any complaints in terms of taking the medications on time. The life of Dr Ashutosh too became more simpler with Dr Nidhi's involvement with the kids, which only aided in more admiration blooming in Dr Ashutosh's heart.
A subtle love story began developing in both the hearts which had to suffer an almost terrible curse by several relatives of Dr Nidhi's and no one had the courage to boost their heartfelt emotions. Mandira, who had been well portrayed by Mansi, was the main cause of the rejection by the elderly but it is also true that true love knew no limits, no lines or boundaries of any kind. True love had evolved and triumphed over time, knowing how much each of them had suffered by sacrificing each other's passion through the beautiful, heartwarming memories of love, looking at the symbols of love, reflecting and pondering over the light of the moon on sleepless nights which gave them courage to move on in their lives till the elders realized what a grave mistake they were committing by trying to separate these love birds.
Their love held them together in their professional and personal crises together, be it for taking time to decide about family planning or even about career progression in the case of Dr Nidhi. These are tough decisions which were very well handled by the creatives of the show and I can't thank them and the channel enough for bringing life to the deep-felt characters of the show. Their efforts ought to be very well applauded.
The success of the show is not possible if not for the entire ensemble, cast and crew of the show who had brought before us such never-tried-before approaches and tracks such as fashion tracks in hospital events in order to shed light on clinical research and cost-effective strategies to help the under-privileged patients at higher risk, who are unable to pay for the medications which are increasing in cost day to day. The promising show had its arrays of festive seasons as well as personal reasons to celebrate., commemorating special events, which added extra colors to Dr Nidhi's and Dr Ashutosh's lives. Apart from that, the show highlighted its streak of friendship from the start till the end and no matter what, true love and friendship stayed on till the end.
We have seen several shows which depicted age-related love stories but never did it have a series like Kuch Toh Log Kahenge which was truest to its essence. Some people will definitely talk about their love stories till infinity, of how they fought all barriers of love despite their differences and distance and remained together, happily ever after. Their love story surely struck a chord with me, with us Indians for a very long time to come. Till Dr Nidhi and Dr Ashutosh return with the wacky ensemble and cast, let's sing in snyc,
