To stand by something you believe in even in the face of stiff opposition is a great quality...loyalty is unforunately a rare virtue...all credit to Deepa for being the show's most loyal fan on this forum...bravo!
If I may add a personal note, Deepa and I have fought a lot in the earlier days...because we did not quite understand each other's pov or the reasoning behind our thoughts,...today we do and stand on the same side of the divide...but even when I disagreed with Deepa, I never failed to admire her guts and her fierce loyalty...
Deepa was the one who made me try to analyse Ashutosh more...her fierce love for the character made me try harder to understand what commanded such fierce loyalty...she helped me discover Ashutosh for myself just by being his most loyal camper...She is the reason why I started writing on the show's characters...
I am sharing this for a simple reason...while we were not sworn enemies, there were times when both of us let our guard down and responded to each other's comments and posts despite our disagreements...we laughed together on occasion...now, we don't even know each other outside of the virtual world..
If we, despite our differences, could laugh together setting aside our differences momentarily, why can't Ashutosh and Mallika let their guard down for fleeting moments...is Ashutosh made of iron and steel...Mallika did try to kill his wife but does that negate all that she has done for him...does it make her cease to exist as a human being...why can't he let his guard down when he momentarily forgets her evil and remembers the goodness in her...would we have the same problem if Mallika had been Ashutosh's sister instead of friend...would we have raged against the show and the writer if Ashutosh had helped his sister even after she had made an attempt on his wife's life...do we understand only conventional relationships...are we so incapable of appreciating that, so far as Ashutosh is concerned, Mallika is a friend in need at the moment...
Even during war, enemy camps lay down their arms at sunset and drink and feast together...and then they pick up their arms and kill each other the next morning...this is our history..!
