Nidhi enterred the children's ward and to her surprised she saw all the kids there around 12-15 of them were sadly resting on their respective beds. She was quite amazed saying to herself how come the children's ward is so quiet and peaceful especially when all the kids there must be between 5 to 12 years old. " Hello everybody "she just said with all her enthusiasm and lovely smile.But only a few response in their very shy way were returned back to her. Janky bhai the nurse in charge there came to meet her and introduced herself. Janky bhai asked Nidhi what she did wrong to be posted to this ward. She tells her that this ward is regarded to be the punishment ward, because it very difficult to handle these kids and nobody can make any complaint regarding this ward as it is Dr Ashutosh's favourite ward.Nidhi looked at her in surprised and ask her how come Children's ward can be named Punishment Ward but should be called instead entertainment ward and all the kids gave her all their sweetest smile.How cute she said. Nidhi goes around and introduce herself to the kids.She found that most of the kids were orphans and were taken here to look after for free and that Dr Ashutosh gave special treatment to this ward. It was nearly time to give the kids their injections and medecines.Nidhi asked them behave like good kids and to be brave and take their respective treatment.She told them if they are good she will tell them a story and she started playing with them while giving each and evry single kids their respective medecines and injection without having any complaint from any of them.Janky bhai was amazed when she saw this she told Nidhi its been ,ore than 10 years she is working here and never saw this before.After their proper treated as they were promised Nidhi started to tell them the story and was playing with them one could hear the noise from the corridor.
By the meantime Dr Ashutosh was going to make his round. He was just about to press the button for the elevator, when some boisterous laughter caught his attention, distracting him completely from the report he had been reading while walking. The noise was coming from the Children's ward, and his curiosity stirred him enough to investigate. He knew that this sort of physical reaction to someone was very unusual for him but this noise coming from the children's ward is quite unusual. In fact, he could not recall a time when lastly he heard the screaming of the kids from that ward. Suddenly he realises that Dr Nidhi Verma was posted to this ward so obviously the little that he came to know about her behaviour just in a few minutes from their conversation was not a surprise for him concerning this chaos.He stood there leaning at the door and watching the scenes infront of him. The kids were playing , screaming , laughing and he couldn't believe his eyes and how happy the kids were looking. Looking now at Nidhi he felt such a delight and peace at heart by only hearing her voice and realised again that no woman had held his attention for so long. Still, he found comfort in remaining unseen by her, while continuing to watch from his vantage point . After a while he realised that Janky bhai was looking at him and was trying to tell Nidhi and the kids to be quiet but in vain.
"What's going on here Dr Nidhi ? " Ashutosh said in a harsh voice. But what came to him as areply was a cheerful " Hello Sir" as he entered the room , he looked at her face and it was more cheerful than her voice he was thinking. What you always think is not always the right solution Dr Nidhi this you should put it in your mind. At the same time Ashutosh could hear a small voice from a 6 years old girl named Pooja " Dr Ashutosh we are sorry it's not the fault of Nidhi didi it's because we asked her to play with us that she did it. So do shout at us not her and her eyes were full of tears. Nidhi was feeling so helpless looking at Pooja and she hugged her and told her no Pooja it's not your fault .Now it's time for all of you to rest and I will come back again after a few minutes. With her eyes full of tears she gave a brief look of angriness at Ashutosh and left the ward.
Nidhi was feeling very embarrassed, she was thinking why she had to burst in tears infront of him. She had behaved like a complete child infront of her senior... She got so carried away with the kids that she didn't realize what she was really doing. She shook her head in and continued her way to the rest room. Oh, wat Dr. Ashutosh would be thinking about me?. Why was he there when I was trying to cheer up the kids,after all I didn't do anything wrong that he had to shout at me infront of the kids, she was thinking. Ashutosh at the other hand was still angry thinking about how irresponsible, careless ,undiscipline this girl is. He was thinking how could someone give such a bad impression on her first day of duty . But when retrackting back about the joy he saw on the faces of the kids he felt little bad for being so hard on Nidhi,after all it was her first duty and she was just trying to be good and cheerful to them. Ashutosh was stuck between his compassion and his anger and finally continues for his round.

Reaching home Nidhi told the incidence to his baba who was taking much pleasure at listening to her and she kept on complaining that if all these things is happening to me it's all because of your fault.BB tried to reassure her that she did the right choice to become a doctor and one day even Dr Ashutosh will congratulate her for being a good , responsible and devoted doctor. " In your dreams BB" she replied while pouting. This evening Rohan and Nidhi decided to make a pizza as its been long since they didn't ate pizza. Rohan is a cute and very helplfull boy.He is one of Dadi Bua's relative's son and got his job in Lucknow. As he doesn't know anyone in here Dadi Bua asked him to stay over with Col Verma permission. Nidhi and Rohan got along so much as both are hubbly bubbly type of person.Rohan is always ready to help and always come in with the best solution for everyone's problem.Nidhi called Anjie to join for the pizza party. All three of them started to help each other to make the pizza , Rohan was reading the recipe from the book, Anjie was cutting the ingredients while Nidhi was preparing the dough. From time to time they like to do such weird thing but DB and Chote Sarkar the cook will always complain to them for leaving the kitchen in a mess.

She was completely covered in flour. Her hair was sticky and she fell against the hallway wall laughing and clutching her stomach because all the three was having fun with cooking.

At the same time BB and DB came to see who it was and Nidhi introduced Dr Ashutosh to BB and DB.Col verma heartedly welcomed Ashutosh but he said No , before he could proceed to say the reason of his visit,Nidhi just intentionally said " You see Sir I am sure you came to appologise to me with her cheerful smile.Because deep inside you know I was not wrong Right? for being friendly and bringing so moment of joy to the kids. It's ok i accept your apology. Ashutosh was shocked How could she be thinking of something like this he thought and telling me this infront of everybody he could feel his face flushing with anger.By seeing this BB told Ashutosh to come in but he heartedly refused and said he has come only to give Nidhi her bag which she forgot at the hospital coz he was thinking that may be she will need it.Col Verma Insited that Ashutosh should come and have at least a cup of tea because this is his first visit in his house and he cannot let him go like this.Ashoutosh didn't have any choice rather than accepting.Nidhi excuses herself and went back in the kitchen to get the tea. In the meantime Anjie and Rohan were keen to know who this handsome gentleman was and nidhi told them this is the famous Dr Heartstone ,the dean of KGH and her senior. After the dough had risen, they had rolled it flat and added various toppings before sliding it into a hot oven. The food fight had started just after the pizza went into the oven. The pizza was obviously cooked, as the smell now wafted through the whole kitchen, making all of them hungry.Anjie helped Nidhi in preparing the tea and nidhi was very much embarrassed while thinking why BB ask Dr Ashutosh to stay for tea. When Nidhi entered the sitting room to her astonishment Dr Ashutosh and BB was laughing loudly over some jokes or talks and Nidhi asked if BB was backbiting about her as he always does this to anybody and bb told her no Dr Asutosh was telling me how responsible you are in your work and that kids really like you. She gave a uncomfortable look to Dr Ashutosh who inturn made as if he couldn't understand anything.BB insisted with Ashutosh to atleast taste a piece of pizza cooked by Nidhi's & Co and told him that if he refused will means that he will really miss it . Ashutosh once more couldn't say no as Col Verma was reminding him of his own BB even he was feeling quite uncomfortable to eat in someone's house at his first visit. But the Company of Nidhi and her family was making him feel very at ease.

" Smells good" Ashutosh said looking at Nidhi, ."And yes, it looks good too Nidhi replied they were all laughing and chatting while having the pizza.After a few hours Ashutosh excuses himself and said he should really go as it's quite late and Heeraman kaka will be anxious by now.He thanked Col Verma for the nice invitation and left accompanied by Nidhi. The night so far had certainly been intense but both Ashutosh and Nidhi was feeling like happy. Dr. Ashutosh walks towards his car and his concerned look came across Nidhi's eyes.She quickly bend her head down feeling quite embarrassed if he had noticed that she was admiring him all the way to the car. When reaching his car Ashutosh hesitantly told Nidhi " Dr Nidhi I had an interesting time." Nidhi looked up, a concerned expression on her face."I mean, a good time," he corrected himself while smiling at her wickedly. " I had a good time too Sir" was the shy reply from her.They both greeted each other good night and left. Nidhi could feel a great happiness in her heart, she was thinking that behind this Dr Hardstone there is a somebody different from what he gave the impression to be!!.Nidhi was much interested in trying to find hat really this Dr Hardstone is ? smilling to herself and went back to her room.

Back in her room, Nidhi is wandering why she is so much disturbed about Dr Ashutosh visits. She opens the bag and find her dirty clothes in it, she felt a bit embarrassed while thinking if Dr Ashutosh. Did he look what was inside the bag? Why am I so much engrossed in thinking about him she said to herself. He is my senior, the dean of the hospital and not a 24 years old boy who will just come to try to flirt with me taking the bag as an excuse to see me, she murmured to herself. But what was the hurry to give this bag she thought again, it was not urgent, I could have taken it tomorrow too. All these questions without proper answers were haunting her mind. Never did she ever feel like this for someone before. She has met so many boys from primary school till medical college but never remembered having a crash for any of them, except her medical lecturer, but unfortunately for her, he was married, she smiled to herself while thinking of it. So many boys wanted to befriend her only to become closer to her but she never gave them this opportunity cause she not really interested in them, she could only feel friendship for them not love . But for Dr Ashutosh this feeling for him was different and also how come she is feeling something for him as she knows him only for a few days so for sure it cannot be love. " Oh my god LOVE " how did I conclude this so quickly she thought for a while feeling ashamed of herself. May be I'm just idolizig him she thought. But what she heard is that girls who doesn't have a father or the love and affection of a father would idolize another man to be one for her. But in her case it was different her BB loves her so much he had given her all the love and affection a father could give to a child may be more than he should so still why? She can't believe it no really I'm going a bit too far, this can never happen, I can't be in love with him, but for sure there is something and what is it I have to find out she said to herself. To get rid from all these stupid and absurd thoughts she went to take her bath , brush her teeth and changed into her sleeping gown. Back on her bed again she is still thinking of him, she feels s kind of helplessness.Never before she had been in such a situation. She was thinking if she should ask someone about this feeling of hers !! but who? She picked up her phone and called Anjie. N: Anjie it's me.A: yes what happen why did u call.N: tell me have you ever been in love, A: what?N: have you ever been in love, tell me how are you supposed to be feeling if you are in love? What are the symptoms?do you feel helpless and cannjot remove the thought of that person from your mind? Is this what happen when you are in love?please Anjie tell me?A:Nidhi you are asking me a hundreds of question at the same time and this also at 100 km/ph and you want me to answer you all.This was Nidhi a hundred question at a speed of 100 km/pr and expect you to give the answer much quicker than she asked you.A: Nidhi calm down , are you alright? Did you take any medicines ? should I come over? N: No Anjie I'm not joking I'm serious yaar. A: Ok ok so listen, my whole life I've loved only one boy Raj. N: RAJ? Who Raj? Why u didn't tell me.A:Nidhi you know him remember he was in my 6th grade class but he liked Reshma not me so from that time I've decided not to love anyone again cause all boys are the same,"unfaithfull"and she was sobbing. N: Shut up ya Anjie you are talking about an 11 years old boy , I'm talking about the present Anjie about now.A: how would I know I'm not in love with anyone ,but by the way why are you asking is there something cooking somewhere. Are you hidding anything from me nidhi , if so I will kill you.N: No yaar nothing as such , it's just that I'm so confused anyway when I sort evrything clearly out I'll let you know ok bye. It was time for her to get some sleep as tomorrow she'll have to wake up early for duty. She picked a book from her shelf and read till she fell asleep.
On the other hand, while driving back home Ashutosh was thinking about what he just did. How come he accepted so easily to the invitation of Col Verma and this also at his first visit to them. Normally he would never do this as he is quite of a reserved person. Buy why he didn't or couldn't refuse? And most of all why he couldn't stop thinking of Dr Nidhi. She was the only thing he is able to think of since he left. This never happened to him also before. Up until this point in his life, his only real passion was to ensure the ongoing success of KGH , he had started as a young man with his BB. It had been tough in early days, but Ashutosh had a natural instinct for the world of medecines and KGH had soon begin to prosper. It is one of the best hospital in Lucknow. His name is recognised as amongst the best neurosurgeon all around India. His work kept him busy, so busy that most of the time he did not acknowledge his own loneliness. And moreover since his BB left him, he felt this uncomfort towards others. But however, the real truth behind his bachelor status was that he had never met a woman that has impressed him so much like the one he was just having a pizza with."Dr NIDHI VERMA". A cute smile was on his face. He has actually met so many women in his life mostly professionally but none have drawn his attention like this one, he thought for a while. His friends would always invite women when they were going for a drink in a restaurant trying to find a match for him, but he would always find an excuse to run away from all this. He was not that type of person. The sound of a horning car made him come out of his thoughts.Why am I thinking so much of her, he said to himself and realising suddenly about the age gap between the two. She should be half my age, so obviously nothing as such would really occur between them he thought. She might already have a boyfriend or fianc just thinking barely of Rohan and Nidhi together. But for sure something has already happen atleast for me he murmured. Arriving home Heeramun KK is waiting for him at the door step with an anxious face. Whenever he would be late he would usually informed HK but this time he forgot. Ashutosh explains what happened and HK is actually very happy for him as tonight it was a different Ashutosh that he is seeing. He was just relaxed , smiling and looking happy. With a smile HK told him that he is happy that finally he accepted that meeting people is much more fun than staying alone all the time and Ashutosh agrees with a smile.HK has always taken very good care of Ashutosh since his BB brought him here from the orphanage. When BB left Ashutosh told him if he wants to go also and stay with his own family it will be ok for him but he didn't want to leave Ashutosh in this state. He deeply knew how much he is torn apart and hurt with the sudden departure of BB. He never left him since. He was like a son for him too. Ashutosh greeted goodnight to HK and goes to his room.
After taking his bath he took a book to read but couldn't concentrate. Nidhi's thought was like haunting him. He could hear her voice, het talks, see her smile, her childidh act in hospital, her face covered with flour in the house all were coming like flashback and was covering this emptiness , this quietness in his room. He couldn't believe what's happening to him. Was he going crazy. Keeping on with his nice thoughts he closed his eyes and falls in a deep sleep.
The next morning Nidhi wakes up happily. After taking her bath, she opens her curtain. The sun was shining and the sky was blue, the birds were chirpping too looking at the beauty of the day. Yesterday's thought was still in her head. But she feels no despair, no regrets or sorrows. She was wondering what more was to come. She got ready quickly and joins the others for breakfast. Col Verma, Dadi Bua and Rohan were all sitting and Chote Salkar was serving them. She greeted them and had her breakfast quickly and was so keen to go back to KGH. She parks her car in the parking lot and walk forward to the entrance while giving a look at Dr Ashutosh parking it was empty , means he hasn't arrive yet. But anyways it was still 8.45 so may be he will come late today she said to herslef making her way to the reception.
All the interns are waiting there to receive their daily assignment duties with Dr Mallika. But instead it was Dr Rangnath who is giving them their assignment. Nidhi's eyes were going here and there specially at the entrance door waiting impatiently to see him coming in but in vain. Dr Rangnath told them that there was an emergency call yesterday night for an urgent surgery in Mumbai General Hospital and that Dr Ashutosh and Dr Mallika left for Mumbai early morning to attend. There was quite an excitement and happiness on all the faces of the interns except Nidhi. They were all happy just thinking that Dr Hardstone and Dr Mallika will not be at the hospital for two days." Cats won't be here glory to the mice " they said with excitement. Nidhi didn't know once again whether she should be happy or sad to hear it, she was in total confusion, normally she should be happy like the rest of the interns but couldn't really feel this happiness. She pushed through the shock and confusion clouding her thoughts, trying to make sense of this astonishing turn of events. She was thinking why Dr Ashutosh didn't tell her. But suddenly realised why should he,after all I'm only his intern, his junior not his fiancee. She trailed off as the truth hit her like a slap. Ranganath looked at her perplexly and said " Dr Nidhi ? aren't you happy to hear the good news" She couldn't answer anything,she was speechless,she turned her back and resumes her duty. The day seems to be long.From time to time she is thinking of Dr Ashutosh great figure and the sound of his steady voice in the hospital. Anything she feels, would be bearable if only she could see him right now, right here. These two days in the hospital without seeing Dr Ashutosh was like an eternity for her, even though he would always shouts at her for her irresponsible actions but would finally give her a smile after. After much thought she realises that she likes to be in the presence of Dr Hardstone, his presence makes her feel good,happy and motivates her to work better. Was it LUST or Love she is not able to answer this right now but for sure there is something. The following day Nidhi's was in the children's ward and is thinking that today Dr Ashutosh is supposed to be back. Only this thought brings a smile on her face when suddenly she hears her voice in the corridor. Her breathing has already speed up and her balance degenerated so quickly, it was like a small miracle for her. She was overwhelmed with joy. All the kids were busy playing,singing,running here and there, ofcourse Nidhi's was giving them company in doing so herself when she hears " Good Morning Kids". The room was all of a sudden filled with silence. All the kids run to him, hug him and greets him back. Nidhi turns back and looks at him. He was looking dazzling in his white suit with a black shirt and white tie. One of the kids asks him where he was as they he didn't come to visit them for two days. He approaches Nidhi and says " Hi Dr Verma how are you". N "Good morning Sir"
Nidhi could feel her stomach compressing and making it unable for her to utter more words. One of the girl comes closer to Ashutosh and asks him again why he din't come to see them. A:" why? Did u miss me?" he said sarcastically while looking at Nidhi. She was feeling little embarassed but convinces herself that ofcouse Dr Ashutosh was not meaning anything while saying this. All the kids answers a big Yes and hug him again. There was some kind of connection, love and understanding between these kids and Ashutosh, he always feels happy and always smiling whenever he is with them. This was the only ward he could feel peace whenever he is stressed .
Ashutosh asks Nidhi how was it going with the kids and she replies that evrything was fine. Nidhi wants to ask him how was his trip to Mumbai and about the surgery, but restrains herself in doing so as it's not a current thing for an intern to ask a senior about his job. They both had an overall talk about all the kids ongoing treatment. A: " So Dr Nidhi how was it going these 2 days I was not in the hospital" Nidhi couldn't believe what she has just heard. N: "It was not the same Sir" she said A: " what was not the same with the kids Dr Nidhi"? Nidhi just realise that Ashutosh is talking about the kids and not her. Her cheeks was hot and red like ripe tomatoes that even Ashutosh could see it. N: " Oh the kids? Nothing say , they were all fine" she says while she lowers her head and gives a glance at Ashutosh to see his reactions. But there was sign of nothing on his face he is a such a professional in his work she was thinking. At the same times Sister Jankee enters the ward and shows Ashutosh the file of some of the patient. Nidhi excuses herself as it was unable for her to control herself anymore and left the two over their discussions. Janky bhai was praising Nidhi to Dr Ashutish telling him how this new intern has won the hearts of all the kids here. The kids just like her and how attentive and kind she is to them. She tells Dr Ashutosh that these kids who are always refusing to take medecines and injection , now waits for the arrival of Dr Nidhi everyday to receive their medecines and injections from her. This is so incredible she says and the kids are recovering much faster with all these attention given to them. A sudden delight fills Ashutosh heart on hearing this. Janky bhai tells Ashutosh that Dr Nidhi is for sure someone special, very devouted to her work and most important of all very hard working. She also tells him that she think it's a blessing for the kids to have her around. Ashutosh leaves the ward with such a contentment not only on his face but heart also.
