Chapter 10 Visit to Bani Village Part III

Hi all sorry I'm making this Village trip quite long with so many parts but I have so many ideas for them being together so plz forgive me.

For both Ashutosh and Nidhi sleeping was quite difficult. But they had to as tomorrow will be another busy day for them. The next morning Nidhi yawned as she rolled over and stretched out her numb limbs. The sun began to shine through the cracks in the blinds and she hissed and drew the blanket over her eyes. The sound of her clock ticking was the only sound she heard and she strained to hear Priyanka or Jhoti. No sound came to her and she sat up and let the blankets slide to the cold wooden floor.
"God, it's freezing." She said as she slipped on her black fuzzy house slippers and grabbed a large shirt from her clothes. She shrugged it on and began to button it up when she heard a sound come from outside her door. She paused and listened but didn't hear it again. She grabbed her phone and scrolled through the unread messages. She flicked it shut seeing no messages or calls from Kari and threw it on her bed. It landed with a silent thunk and she opened her door and headed to where the sound was. She moved silently through the corridor. It seems colder for some reason. "This morning is turning out to be very eventful." She muttered under her breath.She noticed that one the room's door was now cracked open. "What the h….!" She muttered as she absentmindedly reached for the broom. She inched her way forward, beads of worry beginning to form on the nape of her neck. She steeled her shoulders and wielded her broom like a sword. Then slammed the door open and hit the light in the room." Is there someone here" she muttered as fearlessly as she could, she screamed as something brushed against her leg and fell backwards, ultimately landing on her behind. She groaned and began to stand up when she noticed green eyes staring at her from the now dark room. Her eyes fixed on them and her heart pounded. What sort of animal had green eyes? The eyes began to get closer and then suddenly a black cat began to form from the shadows. Tessa let out a breath of relief and got on her knees, gesturing for the cat to come closer. She smirked as the cat began to sniff her outstretched hand and began to swirl around her legs. She stood up and cradled the cat in her arms, nestling her face against its soft fur." She'd always had a thing for cats, so it's not a surprise she'd let a stray in immediately."Nidhi," came Priyanka's questioning voice from behind. "Where are you?" "I'm in here." " Nidhi, come on be quick it's nearly 8.00 a.m and Dr Hardstone will eat us as breakfast if we are late you know it" Nidhi couldn't stand it anymore hearing others talking like this for Dr Ashutosh, but what can she do , just have to bear it. " Ok, don't worry I'll be right there in a minute. Nidhi took her bath quickly and got prepared and took with her her new friend for breakfast. Everybody were seated already around the table, after greeting good morning to everyone she asked the cook if she can have a bowl of milk for the cat, which he did without any protest. Ashutosh was looking at her amusingly as she was burying her face in the cat's coat and she meowed in protest. " Dr Verma, it seems you got a new friend here? Ashutosh told her.She replied a Yes as she set the bowl of milk on the floor for her new feline friend. The cat immediately began to lick away the contents. Oh my God she is so hungry she surprisingly said and suddenly saw Dr Ashutosh glare on her. Oh, God, there he was, making her feel naked again with the way he was looking at her. "Don't you like cats, Sir?" she asked him. "Cats usually love me." He replied with a mocking smile. Nidhi smirked at his face and uttered. " USUALLY," and all of them burst in laughter. Everybody was assigned their respective duty and was all off to their respective duty after breakfast.

Today was very special for Nidhi, she has been requested by the kids to do something special. But for this she will have to ask Dr Ashutosh who would, as long as she knows her would probably refuse to accept. They asked her to make a bonfire tonight as tomorrow will be their last day here. Nidhi was very excited with the idea and with the help of the kids they persuaded Dr Hardtone to accept, but were warned to be very careful. The day was very busy as expected. This medical visit was organized by freelance peace pioneers in collaboration with KGH to give free medical treatment and aid camp in Bani Village. Camp covered the patients of the village and the neighbouhood one also. More than 200 patients were seen in the camp by the KGH doctor's team. Community executives were also there on camp to help to control the crowd and to help in other related arrangements during camp time. FPP invited Doctors to work with them in practical realization of the programs. In this activity KGH coordinated with FPP to hold its camp in Bani. Last year they provided a medical check up to disabled and ill persons. The purpose of arranging camp in villages was to reach out to the financially weak people who cannot reach doctors for their treatment because of any reason and secondly help those who do not have proper medical facilities at hand, which they badly needed. Disables were provided with medicines and with complete check up along with it they were provided with the clutches, wheel chairs, hearing instruments and white canes also. Doctors referred 25 disabled people for full check to the city hospitals. They planned to start preparing for the bonfire in the afternoon, everyone was asked to help and with great surprise all the medical staff there and some villagers volunteered to help. Nidhi had found some old clothes and Priyanka had tied the ends of the shirt and trousers so that Rahul could stuff them with paper and straw."It looks like a scarecrow" said Jhoti."What about the face?" asked Jhoti."We need a mask for him" said Rahul. "I'll make one" said Priyanka. They were all very excited and involved in doing the task. Now they had to prepare the pit. They began by gathering items, such as newspaper, twigs, and logs, to burn. They took individual sheets of newspaper and twist them, and place the twisted papers into the bonfire pit.Next, they began to place other items into the pit, in particular twigs. They also gather up a variety of things that they wouldn't mind burning, such as leaves and trash. Ashutosh was just standing and supervising them and this also with a very amusing mood. Nidhi came out of her room with a very excited face."Look everyone!" she shouted as she took a big red rocket out of the box."STOP RIGHT THERE!" exclaimed Ashutosh. "Fireworks are dangerous. Children should NEVER touch them!" . "That's right Sir," said Nidhi wrathfully, Well done for reminding us but just to inform you that it's me who is holding it not the kids". Ashutosh came towards her and in a low voice muttered " That's why I said it Dr Verma" " How could you..." she literally stopped herself from saying more as they were all starring at her. Nidhi blushed but was also furious and she wished only that no one was here so that she would just light one innfront of his foot. Trying to control herself she walked away and put the fireworks on the shelf, Rahul went to set a rope around the bonfire. Later Ashutosh moved the fireworks into a tin box with a lid on so they would be safe outside. Priyanka had finished the mask and they all helped carry the Guy to the bonfire. Rahul placed the Guy on the top of the bonfire and was just about to light it when Ashutosh shouted "STOP RIGHT THERE!". "What's the matter now?" asked Nidhi. "You have to check the bonfire first to make sure a hedgehog hasn't crawled underneath" explained Ashutosh. With a mischievous smile Nidhi said"Well done Sir, you're right again" . Rahul used a stick to check underneath the bonfire and then he very carefully lit it.Everyone stood behind the rope and watched the Guy burn. Rahul then lit the fireworks making sure he closed the lid of the tin tightly after each one was taken out."Ooh," said Nidhi excitedly "Look at the beautiful colours". "You can have a sparkler" said Rahul to Nidhi, who then held out his hand. "STOP RIGHT THERE!," exclaimed again Ashutosh. At this time all the kids were looking at Ashutosh surprisingly and said " Awww" "You haven't got a glove on Dr Verma". "Well Done again Sir," said Rahul "You must always wear gloves if you are going to hold a sparkler, and remember not to wave it too near anyone, he now turned to all the kids present to warn them about the danger of fireworks". Finally, the bonfire were lit with great excitement filled the air. The fire was as hot as lava it burned the core of the soul. Bright yellow orange, flames danced, flickered knowing they were being watched by an amazed crowd. The fire was a dragon roaring with fury and spitting charcoal, with the immense heat that slapped the face.In the middle of the dragon stood the Guy. He was stuffed with wool, it was wearing a tatty blazer, his eyes were painted red, and he is standing on a big bulky brown stick it looked like a demon. You could smell the wood as it was burning it smelt like charcoal. Above the dark black clouds were low and hairy in the skies, like locks blown forward in the bleem of eyes. Everybody had a nice time with the bonfire and especially the kids. After the fire was over all the volunteers made sure that the fire was properly off and all the kids rushed towards the KGH team to thank them. Joy and happiness were present. Ashutosh was looking at Nidhi how she was dancing around with the kids and once again he was blown away by her beauty. Just then Nidhi turned around to find this glare on her and she would always feel uncomfortable. She approached him and said " Thank you Sir , for caring about each and every single detail for our safety." Ashutosh just look at her and replied " You are welcome Doctor Nidhi after all it is my duty to look after YOU, and corrected himself spontaneously I mean after all of you here under my responsibility". He could feel his face flushed but tried to look normal. Just then some of the villagers had brought some handy cake to give them. They were all asked to be seated like a circle and the food was placed in the middle.

Nidhi was so overwhelmed while thinking how Ashutosh was caring for her each and every time she was asked to be careful about the firecracker. Before she was irritated at it that every time he was stopping her from doing this, but now thinking back about it, he was always right all the time with the safety after all there were kids watching them so that would be a lesson for them also. Nidhi raised her head to look at him and he was busy playing with one of the kids. She was thinking that may be because she was only her interns and he said they were all under his responsibility that's why he cared so much, but still with the knowledge that Ashutosh is her boss and much older than her wouldn't stop her attraction to him, even though there was no hope of anything between them. For him may be she is only an intern she thought. But still tonight was also different, he was always on constant concern for her, maybe he would have done it for anyone else, anyways she was over her memory lapse of this moment. Just then Ashutosh looked at her with a perceptive look, she met his gaze and stared right back at him, her insides turned to gelatin, she cursed herself for that reaction. She wasn't over her lapse. She would never be over it she thpught. She was officially, permanently lapsed over him. Most of the time she could pretend she wasn't, but tonight she seemed to be having problems with accepting it. " Dr Nidhi" Ashutosh called her, his voice was low and humbly. It wasn't a growl this time. It was something else. Something she'd never heard in his voice may be. It almost sounded like desire. But no how could he desire me she asked herself. He would never do this, he is my boss and he would not desire me , not at any cost. Occasionally boss and employees can share a meal, a joke a walk but they don't share desire. Nidhi gave herself a mental shake and forced a smile on her face though she was worried her face might crack. " Yes Sir? She smilingly replied. " Where are you lost in your thought?" he asked. " Nothing Sir, just like that" Nidhi turned around and to her surprise all her friends were already inside the building and she was here alone with some of the kids and him. " Where are the other?" she asked him. " Dr Verma, this is what I was telling you , that they all left long before and I'm still waiting here for you to make a move so that I could finally go also" Nidhi blushed again God this boss of hers knew perfectly how to make her blush. Once more he cared for her, she thought, he could have left with the others but he didn't he waited for her. Is there any more to say about this concern for her. " Oh I'm so sorry Sir, but you shouldn't have waited for me, you should have left also" she hesitately told him. Looking at her flushed face Ashutosh couldn't retain himself from chuckling and murmured " Really Dr Nidhi, are you sure of what you said? By the way what were you thinking about, you look so pensive all the time". Nidhi suddenly realized that may be her intention for him was becoming clear. She flushed again by thinking how could she be so stupid, why is she becoming so informal with him? This ahh had brought her today where she is. Had she been a little careful before, she won't be so pathetic now. However it's never too late. Though she knew Dr Ashutosh was trying his best to ….. Well, what would she name it? Probably he was just trying to get to know her, just be friendly with her, but she never gave a chance she thought. She maintained a safe distance from him and concentrated mostly on her work, though it was very difficult to just stick to work when he was everywhere, but she managed. However what she didn't understand was why he was doing all this? Just out of curiousity? Or he wanted to get to know all his fellow interns better? Or he…… Ughhh, how could she even think of it? He could never be attracted to me she said to herself. For sure he was not, not even a bit may be. What is there exta in me which other women don't have, so that he would go for me? For God sake, he is a famous neurosurgeon and there are so many women around the city who could die for his one look. Where do I stand in all of this? she thought, probably nowhere, so just stick to the point that he is sometimes friendly with most of his interns and colleagues when he is in his good mood. But still somewhere in the corner of her heart, Nidhi had a different feeling about all of this. The way sometimes she caught him looking at her. But may be her expectations were high she thought. Even though she would not agree but Nidhi's stomach did a thousand flip just with on glance from him. He had this effect on her, so probably that was why she thought…….. Maybe just maybe he had some feelings……. Cut that crap, Nidhi was sure to be imagining things. She was nothing special and was just like everybody else. And she just became sure of it when thinking how he would yelled over her at time.She could not help but think did he... by chance have any affection towards her or was she just an ordinary employee to him. So many times she tried to shrug off all the thoughts about him, but he kept invading her mind some or the other way, did he have such a great impact on her? Suddenly a growling voice draws her back to reality " Still thinking about something special Dr Nidhi?". She didn't have words to answer but only giving him a sweet look when they finally reached the house. She was exhausted, not only because of the work and the bonfire, but also because of all the additional and unnecessary work her mind was doing. Upon reaching they realized that the others already had their dinner and both were feeling awkward to have dinner alone together. Nidhi was feeling quite guilty that because of her he didn't have dinner so she told him that she will make the necessary arrangement to send his dinner in his room. Ashutosh nodded and went directly in his room but was still determine to know the secret behind these pensive thought of her.

The only sound in Ashutosh's room were the tapping of his foot and his breath, he was impatient. Nidhi was taking an awful long time to send the dinner. Actually it had been only few minutes but he was sure that she would probably come to bring him the dinner herself , so he would have time to talk more to her. Ashutosh thought that when she will come he will try to convince her to join him for dinner as she didn't have hers too. Some point she will open up. This will give him a chance to get to know something more about her. She has to…… just then a knock on the door brought him out of his thoughts. Unintyentionally, he checked himself out once in the mirror before opening the door. A smile accompanied his lips, but it quickly dropped as soon as he saw Rahul covering most part of the door with his food in his hand. He could not stop but ask, " where is Dr Nidhi?". Rahul looked at him with a hint of amusement in his eyes. " She must be in her room.She just checked your dinner and asked me to bring it here Sir" Ashutosh could still hear the smile in Rahul's voice. He was not sure what was so funny. There he was still confused with her behavior. Just some time before she was so happy and so open and she was like…. And then she was avoiding him and here…………. This Rahul was amusing himself. " Anything funny Dr Rahul?" Ashutosh asked once it started to irritate him. " Nothing Sir, it's just that Dr Nidhi was having the same expressions as yours" Ashutosh couldn't believe his ears. Did they do anything that now even others are talking about them. But on his side he was sure nothing as such he did to draw anyone attention on him and Nidhi. " WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" he shouted. Rahul didn't know how to divert his attention now, what was said was already said he just have to find a way to go from his room otherwise he'll eat him instead of the dinner he thought. " Nothin Sir, hope you'll enjoy your dinner, good night". With that he dashed out of Ashutosh's room and he was left hanging to understand what Rahul said; she was all over his mind. A number of times that night he wanted to call her or even knock on her door but each time the thought that he might be intruding in her personal space stopped him from doing any such thing. Finally he thought it was wise to just take his dinner and go to sleep, so that's what he did and retired for the night with her thought in his mind.

Stretching his arms to the maximum Ashutosh got up from the bed, work was calling. Today is the last day in Bani, who knew how it would go. His eyes were still not opening properly, somehow his feet managed to reach the bathroom and he straight away go into the shower. The running water helped a lot and suddenly he remembered the events of the day before. Nidhi…….. the name echoed in his mind and he sped up his morning chores. Making sure that he was all set, he thought it would not be harmful if he went and checked upon the interns, most precisely one of them he thought. So he opened his door peeked through it …..Left…. Right……. He could see nobody, so the next second he landed in front of the girls door.Ummm what would he say he thought………… Should I say " Interns would you like to join for breakfast," that sounds unfamiliar to me he thought or should I say " Hmmm…. Just checking…… " Sir?" Nidhi's voice rang through the hallway and he turned himself to face her. She had a puzzled look on her face, obviously she was not expecting him on their doorstep at this hour of the day, but how would he know she was not inside. " I… Ummm, I was asking about if you , I mean all of you are not going for breakfat." Ashutosh replied approaching her. Nidhi was shining, shining like crystal clear water under bright sunrays, Ashutosh felt he was basking in her warmth and brightness. Did she ever miss a chance to take his breath away, no she didn't he thought. When Ashutosh realized that he had been starring, the look on her face told him that she clearly didn't believe what he said. By the way what had he said?? God , how could this happen to me he thought. " Sir as we didn't see you in the dining room I came to ask whether you are having breakfast down or you want it to be sent in your room?" Nidhi told him timidly. " Thanks Dr Nidhi , I will join the group" he answered her without looking at her. Nidhi walked past him towards her room when he turned and asked " Are you joining us?" she stopped, she looked a bit hesitant to answer, but anyway did " Yeah , I just need to take something". Ashutosh nodded and turned back, he could hear the rattling of keys, she might have gone inside by now. He too went back inside his room and left the door open, so he would know when she came outside. Just when he heard the rattling of keys again, Ashutosh pretended to be taking his wallet and jacket. Soon he was shutting the door and locking it as Nidhi was coming out of her room. Though she smiled acknowledging his, but he knew she was uncomfortable to say the least. But he was determined. Ashutosh once again thought why was he doing all this, only to know better a girl and this also at his age, he should have been doing this years before not now, but what can he do never ever before had he met someone who will draw his attention that much.

I'll stop here for now and will continue after be prepared for a continuous chapter in the village sorry………. I know its short but it's only that some wanted an update so its just a little chapter to make them happy after all we are not seing any romance in our KTLK these days so even though there is no romance here also but the two are together so enjoy and please leave some comments
