Thanks for the post. It has definitely brought back fond memories for me.😳 This is my engagement story...sorry its rather long...😉
Ours is an arranged, love, arranged marriage...confused! 😕 Hmmm, let me explain.
When I got married I was studying in the US and my parents gave me the contact info for a suitable ladka who also happened to be in the US and was working. Likewise my hubby parents did the same. The catch was we were located on opposite coasts of the country and we had a 3 hr. time gap!
So, after much deliberation (just like Ashu) my hubby decided to email me, and to his surprise I responded. So we continued like this for a while till we became best online buddies. Then one day he asked me permission to call me and again to his surprise, I agreed. He did that too and we chatted for many days and became best phone buddies. Then we decided to finally meet!!
So, during one long weekend my hubby made the big cross country journey and we finally saw each other. AS I had 3 other roomies he stayed at a hotel. Our parents knew we were going to meet but to this day they still do not know a lot about the emails or phone calls!! 😆 On the second day after we met we decided to get married and we shopped for a ring together. 😳
Our parents in India had no clue what was happening till we called them and said we wanted to marry and as per US tradition the dulha has put a ring on my finger. So we are officially engaged now!! Our parents scrambled had some type of thali exchange (formal engagement) 3 days later and set a date for the wedding.
To this day my hubby and I celebrate our engagement on one day and our parents celebrate it 3 days later!! 😆
@Mehek, wonderful story, its definitely a nice feeling when you realize that the one you love loves you back and will be there for you!
