Apoorvafan raised a question on that and I'd like to add on... they may seem Un ashu like but we have to bear in mind it is a man who is speaking with the heart here and the power of emotion is much stronger here... he is reflecting on the means ... hard though it is it did bring her to him.

Good that you also touched upon this Sharifa. Yes - Ashutosh is speaking from his heart here.

If you really look at it, in his mind this is a non-issue. Though at this stage he is not really able to explain it in a very rational way as to why is it a non-issue. A very superficial explanation he gives is that he is himself adopted. But that's not good enough an explanation. At the best, it says that he doesn't mind it. It doesn't say that the problem doesn't matter, that Nidhi has nothing to feel bad about.

Later, though, he reflects more on it at leisure. Why does it obviously look like a non-issue to him, when it is such a huge issue for everyone else. Would he not like to have kids like everyone else? Does he not see the future mother of his children in his wife like everyone else? He does. Then? And that's when he realizes what he tells Mathew and Armaan in the last part. That we, for most parts, mix up the biological and emotional/social/psychological aspects of fatherhood and motherhood. Ashutosh doesn't say this in the FF, but one can imagine Ashutosh asking himself questions about his Baba. Who was he a real father to? To Ashutosh, whom he had not biologically fathered? Or to Nidhi's Mom, who was his biological offspring, but whom he had left as a kid (in my FFs)? The answer is obvious to him. He was a real father to Ashutosh, not really to his biological daughter. And when he thinks about fathering his kids, he thinks about everything Baba did for him. Biology does not matter in front of those moments of love, care and togetherness. So, while having kids biologically might be the most common way, it need not be the only way in which you become parents. Our happiness does not have to be tied to biological relationships. And so on...
