KTLK and DK: A perspective & some suggestions

Hi There,
I had written some of this in another post but thought it may make sense to some of you and the CVs if they are reading so here it is.😃
First the good news, KTLK is above average of the other fare on the Indian channels👏...but that is what it is ...an above average serial...and that too if you watch it with low expectations😆...Beacuse if the intention of the CVs is to make it memorable...then KTLK has to forget the term "TRP"
Here is why...
KTLK has now fully morphed into a giggle headed romance and revenge drama between good looking actors...the only story that make sense in it is Dr Ranga and Angie (in fact I love their scenes😃).
If Dhoop Kinare (DK) is really KTLK's inspiration...as made out by Mr Kamlesh Pandey and team then they must first realise that while they were looking at an apple tree for inspiration, they have indeed created an orange😆...yes...because thats how different the two serials are.😕
KTLK has none of the soul, depth or sense that DK had and here is why.
DK was not just a love story, 😳
It was a story about how an orphan (Dr Ahmer) feels isolated when the ony person he is related to in the world turns out to have a past...a family and history which was kept away from the adopted child. And his only emotional connect with the world, which is his home is taken away by that very adopted father and given to someone else...it is this orphan child's story and how he begins to trust and love again
It was a story about a girl (Dr Zoya) who comes of age and realises her responsibilities...a girl who may not have had a mother but whose father, nanny and friends built a cocoon of love around her and were the reason for her happy and peaceful soul...It is her story where she becomes a doctor and realises that there is pain and grief in life that is not just physical (for those who have seen DK I am referring to the terrorist attack scene and the scene about the orphan child that Zoya nearly kills due to negligence, or when she visits an orphanage with dr Ahmer)..
It was how these two people react with everyone around them when they discover their responsibilities to the world and to themselves😳...when they realise that there is a past in their lives that needs to be dealt with alongwith a developing man-woman love that seems more consuming than the family love they felt so far.
Love between the two leads came in much later...and when it came...it felt as though we as viewers were in love...only because it was so gradual and slow realisation.
DK was also a story about a woman who idolised and loved a man openly (Dr Sheena) and who with time and age could not cope with the loneliness and empty feeling that surrounded her. It was about this woman who knew that she loved her friend who will never love her, but who still could not let go of him and his friendship.
It was a story about friendship between two girls (Dr Zoya and Angie), who are quite different in temperament but who are yet very connected and for whom family values come before everything else. It was how they advice each other and deal with the challenges in life.
Lastly, but most importantly...DK was about the purest of love and trust that all of us hopefully have felt...the love of a parent😳😳...and how the presence or lack of it can completely make or break us.
Dhoop Kinare...as the name suggests ...was about all the challenges (akin to a hot sweltering sun😳) that we face in our adult lives...and the oasis of peace and support, the kinara.😳...that each of us hopefully finds.
So dear readers
Lets only hope that the CVs and team of KTLK understands the above...the depth and the soul...
...else lets stop comparing DK with KTLK...coz we cannot compare apples with oranges can we 😳.
Cheers!

Beautiful post... truly beautiful.. n so well summed up...

Agree to ur post to the hilt barring th Sheena bit... she was jus as OTT as any vamp of current days..!! I found her the only soar point in the otherwise.. epic story of a classic called DK..!!
I really hope.. CVs realise that they are almost and nearly ruining the show.. in terms of making it viewer friendly n supersonic realisations of love..!!
I guess i will have to hang on to the saying... 'Umeed pe duniya kayama hai!' :S
Btw.. keep posting more... Constructive Criticism ..minus rhetoric is always a welcome read!!

Hey thanks 😃..I loved your comments too😳
About Dr Sheena.,...I agree at first glance (when I was a kid in school 😆) I felt that too...but then I saw DK again when I was much older ...and the scenes when Dr Sheena is alone, on the verge of divorce made me feel sad for her ...when she tackles her loneliness...
For me Dr Sheena character is summed up when she tells Dr Ahmer that ..."I went home and could not sleep...because there was only sannata (silence) in the house...I felt suffocated and scared...and then I put on the TV and the radio...the whole night there were loud voices emanating from the TV and the radio ...and then I could sleep peacfully"
That for me sums up Dr Sheena...a woman who is more insecure and a victim of circumstances...and not necessarily evil...she does leave Dr Ahmer and Dr Zoya alone...only to come back when the loneliness strikes back😳

although your suggestions are very valid and to the point👍🏼👏

they are not going to forget the TRP s unfortunately

if u read what MB jus commented

?Mohnish Bahl What makes strory line go astray, as you call it, is the demand for trp (the ultimate decider), not always good in terms of the sensitive creative process, but then we have to make the most of what we have!!!

so they will base the story line on TRP friendly track ONLY😆🤔

Thanks ramonag...how are you buddy 😃
Yeah he said it...which is why I say ...lets not have any expectation and just watch it for what it is...a Mills and Boons kind of romance, with a vamp thrown in
in any case in this environment of saas, vau, bitiya, maasa and whateversaa😆😆...at least KTLK has a civilised feel about it.

I have watched DK close to a 100 plus times.. n as a grown up... so i really dun feel much sympathy for her character..True.. the dialogues...some of it..of Sheena..were awesome... n i started to empathise with her..post her divorce bit... one of the best dialogues of Sheena/Ahmer was when she says.. that...'Tum nahi hote to main kya karti!' .. n Ahmer said..'Main nahi hota to koi aur hota.. par koi na koi hota to zarur...insaan jab tak khud akela nahi hona chahta.. tab tak nahi hota' (or something to that effect!)
I really culdn understand some bits of her other stands... the 'Doc. Khan is nazar se meri aur mat dekha karo... tumhari nazar mujhe ilzam deti hui nazar aati hai' 😕
Her actions.. n the way she was potrayed..are a far cry from the finesse of Ahmer/Zoya/Babas potrayals.. imho Embarrassed

@ramonag
Thanks Ramona😊
@Amru4eva
Thanks that was a good observations, you bought back so many memories😊😳
Exactly thats why I think Sheena was a depressed woman...And I think what Sheena meant by that line which you are referring to was that Zoya should in no way think that Sheena came back and took away Ahmer...because as far as Shena was concerned Ahmer is incapable of commitments of any kind

Actually that dialogue of Zoya/Sheena came after Sheena resumed post her divorce n post Zoya/Ahmer breakup... so i guess she meant that... dun blame me for the mess 😉
